This statement shared by Ryan Grim's Out site drop is either fabricated or completely unrepresentative of the protests. On the same day this was posted, two Mukhtars of Beit Lahia gave statements which were primarily and explicitly against Hamas. Whoever these other Elders are...

They haven't been represented in the protests. The oldest post I could find of that statement is from a local account called @pal00970, which regularly posts supportive messages of Hamas' leadership and military wing

Meanwhile, the chants from protestors in Beit Lahia, Jabalia, Khan Younis, Nuseirat etc are clear denouncements of Hamas and calls for them to step down e.g. "Hamas are terrorists", "Out with Hamas", "Ya Hamdan and Zahar [Senior Hamas officials] / The decision is ours"

Drop Site completely downplays this sentiment and simply presents it as a side note. In the next paragraph, they go straight to the Elder's statement which "affirms their unwavering support for the Palestinian resistance". On day 3, the protestors are still doing the opposite.

@DropSite I find drop site to be a very shallow and just narrative based. Often times all they provide is their assertion on a topic as evidence and proof of it. Then on breaking points Ryan will provide support for drop site articles that are just random cellphone videos with no context.
