i wanted to pay attention to ur process and how u use ur lighting and got flabbergasted.. 3 times bro i cant pay attention to what i want cause ts is insane🥲

If you ever need an explanation of what i do let me know lol Im always glad to help

tyy! well i kinda understood what ur process is but im wondering how u come up with these comps? like do u have a story in mind and then create a comp based on that or just create a story while drawing? i m really struggling with nice comps atm lol

The best way to do allat effectively is cell shading, its best to learn it before you learn rendering. Even for artists that render a whole lot, the process of making any piece involves knowlege of cell shading on multiple stages. Its how digital colour works

ohhh tbh never gave much attention to cell shading.. i just render blindly based on the ref or from intuition if i have smth, i dont rlly block stuff out. i noticed that after u put the flats on u switch to grayscale and add the values and now that i pay attention to that i think i see what you mean when u talk abt the importance of cell shading. Also, i ve never heard of breaking down other comps before? even tho it seems kinda obvious that it would be a good way to create a comp, ngl, i never thought abt that. like yeah, i used to look at illustrations i liked and take somethings i thought would fit and change them so i dont copy, but breaking stuff down to shapes not just taking and modifying elements is smart! im kinds struggling with shapes, even tho im good at perspective, so i think i should work on my observation and cell shading first! tysmmm i owe you one🥲☺️🫡

Just think of what you want to achieve (for example a naturalistic dynamic look or a very human made static one) and look for examples. Look for shapes and how they vary in size and overlap in dynamic paintings, how their amount and placement affects the appearance of movement

so u break down comps and understand how it works and why it works. by doing that u can apply the principle used in that art to ur art? for example in this piece the Z shape directs the eye to the woman but it also goes from big to small so its slow at first and gets faster so it gives a sense of imbalance and tension? also the comp is kinda flowy so it feels smooth. ohhhhhhhhhh i understand now so basically if i were to create a piece and i want to give a similar mood, a comp similar to this ( overlapping elements at an angle, going from big to small) would give a similar felling. TYY! analyzing art is fun ngll 🙃

Ahhh I was hoping you would post the timelapse for this one! Thank you 🥺 this is one of my favourite of your recent artworks!

Im flattereddddd I already have a couple sketch commissions ready to be posted soon!!

OOOH I’m looking forward to seeing them!! I only just discovered you a few days ago but I love your art so much, your sense of values and shapes is just 😩👌👌

Its THE BEST compliment to be honest I feel like my line and composition confidence are lacking, and Ive only fairly recently started prioritising values, and I dont always feel very sure when I draw, but im glad that people see some improvement

YEAH good values really help so much in improving art!! Happy for you 🥰 can I ask if you have any sources/artists you go to when you’re studying values? I am also trying to improve my values but I am strugglebussing oof

My mosf favouritest artists ever are @/ruoganzhua @/REDUM4 @/askziye and kana (not sure about the tag 😔 such a poser) there is a lot to learn from many artists, but I get most of my inspiration from them!!

ouh i love this one this is so cool!! do you mind explain the process around 16-20 sec on this one where you go from base color then greyscale light/shadow to color like that I would really appreciate it!

For this one I just made a mid gray layer and another one thats all white (with the highlights) Then I do the greyscale on the grey layer and when im happy I set the layer mode to multiply. Then I set the highlights layer to “add (glow)” mode, colour it orange and choose

wahhh this are really useful!!! tysm I will try this out🙂↕️🙌

Omg this is beautiful! Amazing work, the end result it’s gorgeous

This is lovely to watch ♡

absolutely insane i love it!!

so goated! you're amaziiiing i love this art :3

beautiful! lovee it 💛💛

bro i need to try gradient maps thx

i recommend you use them as correction layers with “color” mode, or else its gonna look either boring or cursed

omgg tyy for the advice!! got any more? i rlly want to improve my digital art 😭

i’ve already sent some in the comments here, you can go through the replies under this post!

What brush do you use for the sketch? Also what app?

I use CSP! The sketch is just a round brush set to 80% opacity

I think you meant speedpaint

How do you go from just black and white values to coloured? It's very fascinating.

I have posted some explanations under this post!! Check other replies ^^
