This Tony Cascarino goal is 37 years old today. It’s a textbook back post header, but we’re really here for that ping out wide by Ronnie Whelan. Rolls Royce of a pass, that.

Was in the stand behind the goal

@conorleeson I was on that South Terrace that day #limbs

A decent Irish side back then with big Jack god bless him

Watching this in school on a telly wheeled into the classroom. Some scenes!

What a player Whelan was. Jack always had a big man up front to knock it down or be a presence in the box. Jack was deemed as boring and too direct. It worked! Mourinho did it then for clubs and he was deemed a genius.

Le vieux Tony 🤩

As a Man United fan I used to despise Whelan. He was so good.

Terrace absolutely heaving. Love it.

Brilliant atmosphere that day, great fun on the South Tce

Still purring to this day! 🙂

@RomanMyers14

Inflatable bananas in the crowd. Their heyday. And today they were back again in the City end at Anfield.

Those terraces at Lansdowne Road were brilliant.

I was there! 🙌🏼💚

A Liverpool to Everton combo for the cross

Cas

Love this

Good cross for sure but Very poor defending from the Irish backline

That pass

I was there

I was there ,beautiful "one team in Ireland"

Magician at work

Was in the crowd behind the goal that day. Great Irish team we will probably never see the likes again sadly

Banana day back in the day🤣

Must be Ireland's beat midfielder, Whelan. Him or Johnny Giles. Then Keane slightly behind.

probably his only goal in 37 years

I was at that game 🇮🇪💚

Did I hear Cascarino talking about Man City cheating on the radio this morning? 🤔
