This is physical abuse - the person doing it is sadistic and hiding behind humor because they have deep rooted problems with their own self-esteem and must take it out on the person who is receiving attention.

I don't even know when it started. I've never witnessed a young child's face being smashed into a cake. Not in my own childhood, and not amidst all the adults I know with children.

I thought people stopped this crap as some cakes have stabilizing rods (sticks, straws) in them. So many idiots everywhere.

I have a good friend who does this to all her kids on their birthday. It’s very obvious that they all hate it. My son said to me once on the way home from one of their parties….Mom I’m so glad we don’t do that for our birthdays.

Is this a tradition? - Never happened in my family, a birthday is supposed to be a nice day. To be fair I’d pick the cake up and plaster it all over the enemy if someone did that to me 🤣
