INEC Chairman is trending because Nigerians found Joash Amupitan’s personal twitter account where he was passionately supporting Tinubu and hating on Obidient in 2023. “Victory is sure.” “Obidients are evil.” He allegedly tweeted in March 2023. After the discovery, the page went private and changed its name from Joash Amupitan to Security Researcher (Coy Emerald) , a parody. Then a different @/ JoashAmupitan was opened, but if you mention Prof Joash Ojo Amupitan now, it still takes you back to the alleged original page, as it is fresh change. There have previously been calls from the North for Amupitan’s resignation over religious sentiments, but now Obidients intensified calls for his immediate resignation as he’s deemed unfit to handle such a sensitive position, due to obvious bias. This comes after ADC accused the INEC chairman of being partisan for delisting the party, even after they presented INEC backed document and processes showing the party leadership was legally handed over to David Mark. Amupitan was confirmed INEC chairman in October 2025, the account was created in 2022, it changed its username to JoashAmupitan on November 2025, after Senate’s confirmation. So APC supporters are reducing the allegations to pure opposition propaganda and threatening Obidients with DSS. INEC is yet to address the situation.
