I met with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron. We coordinated our positions ahead of the upcoming meeting of the Coalition of Willing. Now is the time when there is a real chance to end the war and stop Russia. To achieve this, we must continue increasing pressure on the Russian Federation, expand support for Ukraine, and finalize the security guarantees. We discussed the consequences of Russian strikes on Ukraine and the strengthening of our air defense and energy resilience – this is one of our key priorities at this stage. Defense cooperation was also in focus, including concrete solutions that can make Ukraine stronger. I thank France and Emmanuel personally for their support. During a meeting with Prime Minister of Romania Ilie Ilie Bolojan, we discussed defense support. I thank Romania for its military assistance and contributions to the PURL initiative. Strengthening air defense is a priority for Ukraine. It is important to develop the energy network between our countries, which will help Ukraine amid shortages caused by ongoing Russian attacks on our energy infrastructure, and also support Romania when we have a surplus and can export electricity. Therefore, cooperation in the energy sector was also a key topic of our discussion. Particular attention was given to expanding border crossing points between Ukraine and Romania. We also discussed work on an intergovernmental agreement on joint oversight at the Ukraine–Romania border crossings. I thank Ilie Bolojan for the meeting and for his support of Ukraine.

I thanked him for the recently announced 30th defense package worth €52 million and for Finland’s accession to the PURL initiative with a contribution of €100 million. This is real support for our defense. We also discussed cooperation within the SAFE instrument for the procurement of long-range missiles, drones, and artillery ammunition. Special attention was given to the Russian attacks on our energy infrastructure. I informed the Prime Minister about the strikes, and we discussed the restoration of relevant facilities and contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. We also touched upon the issue of shelters and Finland’s leadership in the corresponding coalition. I appreciate all of Finland’s support. Thank you for the meeting. 🇺🇦 🇫🇮

For the second time since the restoration of our independence, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden has come to Ukraine. A government delegation also accompanied him. I thank His Majesty for his visit and for supporting our people. Sweden is among the five largest donors in terms of support for our Armed Forces and our citizens. This is very important for our defense and resilience. Support for Ukraine and possibilities for strengthening the Air Force of Ukraine, including with Gripen aircraft, were among the key topics of the talks. We also discussed continued humanitarian support and energy assistance. Particular attention was paid to defense cooperation. Ukraine is interested in a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership that will strengthen the defense capabilities of both Ukraine and Sweden. I informed the King about Ukraine’s security agreements with countries in the Middle East and the Gulf region, as well as European countries. We are ready to share our experience and technologies with Sweden and to expand cooperation in the defense industry.

I had a good meeting with the Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen Statsministeriet. We discussed the continuation of military support and direct investments in Ukraine’s defense industry. Denmark is one of the leaders in supporting our state and is preparing the 26th package of military aid for Ukraine. This support helps save lives, and we deeply appreciate it. We also talked about the negotiations in Istanbul and the coordination of diplomatic efforts with the U.S. and European partners. We share the view that pressure on Russia is crucial if they refuse to agree to a ceasefire. In July this year, Denmark will begin its Presidency of the EU Council. We are counting on their support for Ukraine’s European integration, which we discussed during the meeting.
