Drivers are being evaluated for their English communication and writing skills at weigh stations and roadside inspections. Drivers who cannot demonstrate sufficient English face fines and arrested for noncompliance. Their employers can also be fined as well. All 50 states are now actively enforcing federal English language proficiency rules following federal executive orders. In California alone, 600 drivers were recently disqualified for failing to meet the standards. As of October, 5,500 have had their driving privileges revoked.
