I was almost tempted to share my video too. My father in-law told my wife to tell me, not to drink it, I asked my wife why? she said it was a big gathering and of course we don’t know the heart of man, so I pretended like I did.

Why switch the drinks??? If it's poisoned, the bride will also die cos she's mandated to also drink from the same cup she gave her husband. This is really sad.

Good question 👍

@LaurelChris7 she’s pregnant, she can’t take alcohol.

@jon_d_doe How do you know she's pregnant?

D video was not to please anybody or to make anybody happy, d couple took maximum caution to protect their marriage. U don’t risk ur life to please people. Do all in ur capacity to safe guard ur life. Prevention is always better than cure.

During my younger brother's wedding in Enugu, the girl's father clearly told her to tell my brother not to drink the palm wine. I think they have their reasons 🤔 😕

From the core traditional point of view, this marriage is not complete. That plamwine is symbolical to the rites of marriage, but he drank water instead. Ask them, they'd say they're scared of being poisoned.

You can never know oh some of those so called elders in the village are not really happy for them

Someone in the comment section said, he did not see any wrong here, he only saw a bride with big bum bum 😂😂😂

If the trust is not there due to village people or heart of man as people have been saying, then it should be scrapped. There's no point performing the act when they have to be scared of the out cone Imagine Father-in-law telling the daughter to tell the wife to tell her husband not to drink it too? It's just performative then

That right there is a couple who understands themselves enough to understand their surroundings, read energy and determine what's safe for themselves. She knows where she comes from, he knows where he's going, so it's not sad at all. It's a thing of joy.

2 factor Authentication

Really sad! Our culture is slowly dying. Since the couples are now scared to drink the palm wine, then why include it in the order of the program? They could have done this indoors where they have trusted relatives and all this unnecessary exchange would have been avoided.

I did the same thing during my trad in Awka. My father/mother in-law warned me not let that drink touch my lips though i was prepared as an Ohafia man but i had to do their bidding. The camera man off camera during the switching. Some poisons do not have antidote o.

Switching the drinks doesn’t actually solve the problem. If the drink is poisoned, anyone mandated to drink from the same cup is at risk, including the bride. It just highlights how fragile and dangerous certain traditions can be when the stakes are literally life and death. The real solution is questioning and changing unsafe practices, not trying to outsmart them.

Perhaps the lady that switched the drink is the bride's trusted friend/sister that's why she's sitting close to the groom solely to switch the drink because they're being careful not to drink the palmwine which the kinsmen gave the bride. We're not in her shoes to know exactly why they wanted to poison her or her husband. Prevention is better than sacrifice they say.

Sad Reality. They know their people, their people know them

Stupid people, as if they want to kill him and it’s that thing that he did now that will save him. It’s always funny when ignorant people claims to know too much.

Allow those who understands the circumstances to Adapt to their realities.....

Am I the only seeing that the lady is actually pregnant so she can’t take drinks expect soft ones probably why the drink is exchange cuz she has to drink from it

The guy came with his own. The norm is, pour it on the ground, then put the money inside. Amandianaeze?

As a man you're not supposed to drink the one brought by your wife to be. It's usually poisoned.

Truth is not everyone is happy to see others celebrate, smile or even dance especially when it comes to persons that stay in the village so one just has to shine his or her eyes well.

I have just one question though, why marry into a family if you don't trust them that much?

Who wan kee the groom, go still run am, plan A, B, C until they get tired. Practicing tradition with fear disguised as caution, we plead the blood of Jesus with 2FA. Let’s just tell our selves the truth and stop with all the performative nonsense.

The drink was changed....Kai! They are afraid of being poisoned???? 🤔

Safety first

There’s nothing sad here! Every woman knows the family she comes from. I may choose not to drink the palm wine my wife will present to me as a symbol of her finding her husband. Everyone is being protective of their lives due to the fear of being poisoned.

They should have used a similar cup though

Honestly. My question is why Marry into a family you don't trust?. That wine is for you to drink when your wife brings it for you not the order way round.

What if it's a polygamous home?

You cannot be more Catholic than the pope. There is a very high chance that the girl's family told the guy not to drink from that cup. Really surprised how many of you are crying more than the bereaved.

This agba mumu o, what’s sad here. Obviously the man doesn’t drink what the bride was bringing which is palm wine and that’s why it was switched. Both the wife and hubby were aware of the switch where is the sadness.

It’s beginning to look like a norm and it’s sad. This will be like 5th video of same scenario .

My immediate elder brother on the day of traditional wedding, the palm wine jar burst before his wife could even get to give him the drink , on code he threw the wine..

I know sabi wetin dey happen...

That means they aren't around friendlies. I'm won't even bother to drink.
