kamen rider isn't cool because of the sick af grotesque body changes and cyborg stuff its cool because the people who are forced into it rise above it to be heroes. also because I am attracted to the gross bug guy.

Poor Batta-Man. 🥲 He only had one scene in Kamen Rider Black and that barely lasted a second.

The body horror vibe was present all over Showa and to a lesser extent Kuuga and Agito, which still draw a lot from it. G3 was the first "artificial Rider", where it's just a suit you wear, and it was a successful concept that became the way forward from Ryuki and 555 onwards

It's funny watching this when my first exposure to Shin was this.

I just really like the concept of a main rider starting out as an organic and monstrous version before slowly evolving into the rider you’d see in a showa series. It happened one of the manga but it would’ve been a cool idea to see on screen.

To be honest irl kamen rider would be like this They would not look cute and cool wearing armor they would turn into monstruous bug like beasts like shin

the way the music changes from " yeah! time to henshin! " to " oh god what is happening to him " adds to the effect

Also the practical effects on this is still great like holy sh*t

I mean makes sense, Ichugo is literally a cyborg and in one Manga he ends up as a Brain in a jar Oh and then there's Shin Kamen Rider's ending too Man Hongou can't get a break
