Upon her release on bail, Ms Jolly Jackline Tukamushaba, the Deputy President for Western Uganda of the National Unity Platform (NUP), described her emotions as “mixed” after nearly a month in detention. Tukamushaba, who was contesting for the Rukiga District Woman MP seat on the NUP ticket, was granted UGX 1 million cash bail by the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Kabale on Thursday. “The soldiers broke into the hotel room we are in through the balcony and after they opened the door for other soldiers to come in. They ordered us to kneel down, took our our phones, asked what we were doing and Jackline told them we were writing appointment letters. This is part of the story of our now deceased comrade, Marinos Alexandria, who died in the wee hours of this morning after a while of getting treatment for the torture ocassioned upon her. She was abducted and tortured by security operatives, the UPDF spokesperson confirmed they had detained her, but released her days later without charge. So why didn't they take her to police or court if she had committed a crime? Why did they release her with torture marks and signs of abuse after holding her in incommunicado detention? Why did police where she went afterwards to report send her away without filing her complaint against the abduction and torture? Why did the Uganda Human Rights Commission pay a deaf ear to the complaint she raised with them? Many questions, few answers!

Some of the videos, recorded by vigilant citizens on election day in Kawempe, specifically in Kazo-Angola and Mbogo where the military and other goons commanded by Museveni’s ministers raided and destroyed polling materials upon realising that NUP was leading by far. After beating up the media and forcing them to withdraw, I thank our people who took the risk to record some of the mayhem caused by the regime in that election. Let's have everything on record. There will be accountability for these crimes committed against our people!

Cell phone video shows a Riverside County Sheriff's deputy slamming a 16-year-old female juvenile student near Vista del Lago High School in Moreno Valley. The deputy approached the student as she walked away following a fight between students. He ordered her to put her hands behind her back. When she appeared resistant, the deputy slammed her to the ground, handcuffed her, and picked her up. She was evaluated by paramedics at the scene and had no serious injuries. The mother stated that she was left with a blackeye, bruises, and scratches from the incident.
