Yeah, sorry - he gave us nothing. For the record, I worked for over 40 years and am currently “semi-retired.” I am quite proud of the work I did, and enjoyed it for the most part, even though to him my job was a “9 to 5” type job. It was often difficult, but I provided a wonderful home for my family and a secure retirement for me and my wife. I have been able to help my children get ahead financially, and we never missed a meal or spent the night on the street. What we do in the modern world is just a more sophisticated version of hunting and gathering. Sure, there always be people who get the “cool” jobs, but there is no shame in doing the grind and finding “your meaning” in a variety of other things outside work. The modern world wouldn’t run without the 99.9% out there doing the hard work and providing for their own needs and those of their family.
