Major Incident is Unfolding in Leeds This Evening as Police Car Overturned During Serious Disorder At 5pm today (Thursday), police were called to an ongoing disturbance at an address in Luxor Street, Harehills, #Leeds. Officers attended and found an ongoing disturbance which involved some agency workers and some children. More people started to attend the location and a decision was made to remove the agency workers and the children to a safe place. A crowd started to gather and more officers were requested to attend the area, where some pockets of disorder were occurring. And when people speak of innocent children, I know they mean well. But the word is simply: children. We should not have to explain to the world, that 4,5,6 year olds are innocent victims. There will never be a justification for the killing of a child. Ever.

This is Britain now. A foreign man holds a British child in place while a gang of youths beat him senseless. The video is sickening. A little British boy being restrained and attacked by a group that has no business being here in the first place. This isn’t “enrichment.” This is the direct, predictable result of decades of mass immigration from incompatible cultures, weak borders, and a political class that has refused to protect British children. While our own kids are being targeted on the streets, the authorities often seem more interested in protecting the feelings of certain communities than in keeping our streets safe. We’ve seen this pattern before — grooming gangs that raped and trafficked thousands of British girls for years while police and councils looked the other way. Now we have street violence where foreign men hold British children down so their mates can attack them. And what’s the response? Too often, hesitation, excuses, or two-tier policing that treats native victims as secondary. The British people did not vote for this. We did not consent to turning our towns and cities into places where our children are no longer safe walking down the street. The same government that imports these problems then expects us to accept the violence as the new normal. This has to stop. Foreign nationals involved in attacks on British children should face immediate deportation after any sentence. No human rights loopholes. No endless appeals. The safety of our kids comes first. We need proper border control, mass remigration of those who refuse to integrate or who commit crimes, and a justice system that actually protects British people instead of bending over backwards for those who attack us. That child should never have been in that situation. His attackers should never have been in this country. Las Patronas help thousands of people along the shared border between Mexico and the United States. Although they rarely receive much attention, Las Patronas are a women’s collective that goes every day to the railway tracks used by the train known as La Bestia to deliver food to migrants riding on top of it. The group distributes aid packages twice a day. Children who make this journey are far more vulnerable than adults. Death and mutilation under La Bestia pose a severe risk, along with extortion and murder by criminal gangs and corrupt Mexican officials. For migrant women, rape and abuse are constant threats. Today, they distribute around 30 kilograms of food daily—bread, rice, and beans that they cook themselves. With these rations, they are able to feed an estimated 800 people per day. In 2025, they celebrated their 30th anniversary.

The incident occurred in front of shocked onlookers, including children. The victim, a man in his 40s, suffered facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. A forensic scene was established, and police are continuing their investigation into the attack.

Yesterday in Parliament we debated the budgetary allocation for the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Children and Social Empowerment. Rape and sexual violence against women and children was heavily discussed. Unfortunately, instead of proposing solutions, many of my fellow Parliamentarians only politicised the situation. Politicisation of rape does not address the conditions that lead to rape or deal with its terrible aftermath. The solution is to take definitive steps to solve it, which is why I am campaigning for: 1. Comprehensive Sexuality Education for children and young adults - that can empower them to take control and make informed decisions on their sexuality and relationships. 2. Decriminalisation of abortion - so that women are empowered to make decisions on their bodies. Reports from the Health Ministry show that about 650 unsafe abortions take place everyday. This means that our laws are putting the lives of 250,000 women at risk every year. 3. Increased Judicial Safety for women and children - so that our justice system doesn’t penalise the very people that need its protection. 4. Speedy resolution of cases pertaining to rape and sexual violence - The average child rape case can take 7-10 years to resolve, leaving the victims in limbo and without any justice. Sri Lanka’s statistics on sexual violence against women and children are alarming. - Every 2 hours a child is sexually molested. - Every 90 minutes, a woman is raped. - 62% of women killed were murdered by either an intimate partner, ex-partner or family member. A 2013 UN Survey on Male Sexual violence in SL showed that 15% of men interviewed admitted to having raped at least once, with the majority who admitted to rape saying they did so because they were entitled to. 20% of those respondents admitted to raping for fun or out of boredom. In this country, we have a history of safeguarding oppressors, and it is much the same with rape or sexual violence, where police tend to have more sympathy with the rapists than the victims. This is reflected in the chilling statistic that only 3% of those who admitted to rape in the above study were arrested. And, according to a 2021 University of Kelaniya study, only 5% of cases relating to women murdered between 2013-2017 have concluded. These figures should make us ashamed and alarmed. Which is why I am committed to support reforms to create a safer and more just country for our women and children.

Sri Lanka’s statistics on sexual violence against women and children are alarming. - Every 2 hours a child is sexually molested. - Every 90 minutes, a woman is raped. - 62% of women killed were murdered by either an intimate partner, ex-partner or family member. A 2013 UN Survey on Male Sexual violence in SL showed that 15% of men interviewed admitted to having raped at least once, with the majority who admitted to rape saying they did so because they were entitled to. 20% of those respondents admitted to raping for fun or out of boredom. In this country, we have a history of safeguarding oppressors, and it is much the same with rape or sexual violence, where police tend to have more sympathy with the rapists than the victims. This is reflected in the chilling statistic that only 3% of those who admitted to rape in the above study were arrested. And, according to a 2021 University of Kelaniya study, only 5% of cases relating to women murdered between 2013-2017 have concluded. These figures should make us ashamed and alarmed. Which is why I am committed to support reforms to create a safer and more just country for our women and children.
