This was a very long and frustrating session (at BCM) but we eventually found the truth. But the exchange was still decent. Of course I could have badgered but getting clear answers was more important for our work.

#WINWIN: I haven't danced Lucifer for a long time. The last time I danced was probably 7 or 8 years ago. I was asked to dance suddenly, and I didn't react that quickly. But I still have some muscle memory, and of course the previous dance was better.

There has always been some amount of elite hypocrisy. Still, I prefer what I call the “John F. Kennedy model of hypocrisy” to what we have now. JFK was a flawed man, but the image he presented to the American public was that he was a good husband, a good father. In his private life, though, he was a philanderer and often an absentee father and had other shortcomings. But he thought it was important to set an example for the people. And now we have the opposite. Today, our elites get married, they have kids, and for the most part, they live a very stable, conventional life. But if you ask them their opinions and attitudes around family, around marriage, around law abidingness, hard work, punctuality, integrity, honesty, and so on, they take a very relaxed attitude. Elites used to pay lip service to conventional values but privately strayed. Now, they publicly support straying, but privately behave in a more conventional way.

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen: The discussions focused on how to ensure long-term security in Greenland. And here, our perspectives continue to differ, I must say. The President has made his view clear, and we have a different position. It’s not resolved. We didn’t manage it. But, honestly speaking, I didn’t believe that was doable. We didn’t manage to change the American position. It’s clear that the President has this wish of conquering Greenland. We made it very, very clear that this is not in the interest of the Kingdom. For us, ideas that would not respect the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Denmark and the right of self-determination of the Greenlandic people are, of course, totally unacceptable. Therefore, we still have a fundamental disagreement, but we also agree to disagree. We will, however, continue to talk. We have decided to form a high-level working group to explore whether we can find a common way forward. And we want to work closely with the U.S., but it must, of course, be a respectful kind of cooperation.

It wasn’t the best show, but I do miss Spirit of Aloha at the Polynesian. 😔 It was a little hokey but a lot of fun, even though the food was very forgettable. But it does suck that we no longer have a show at The Poly because of the new tower. I was really hoping they’d have one somewhere with it, but nope. Now the only dinner show we have is Hoop-Dee-Doo and they better not touch that one!

mark: we went to a restaurant that day. it was me, jaemin, jisung, and chenle who went. and it was a really delicious restaurant. we’re the kind of people who absolutely hate getting up in the morning, but that day, we all just shot right up and arrived at the perfect time. it was unbelievable. we were even more punctual than for our schedules. so we went there still sleepy, but the food was seriously delicious. it was truly legendary.
