Before ending his interview with CNBC Squawk Box this morning, CMS Administrator Dr. Oz took a moment to sound the alarm on America’s $100 BILLION healthcare fraud epidemic. And then he dropped a line that really says it all: “They’re not just stealing your... money, they’re stealing your health.” DR. OZ: “Can I touch on one last thing before I leave you?” BECKY QUICK: “Yeah, I was going to ask what your biggest goal is for this year?” DR. OZ: “We have got to deal with the fraud issues, and here’s why.” “They’re not just stealing your money, they’re stealing your health, because if they don’t care about stealing from poor people, they’ll take your health away, and they’re stealing the nation’s trust.” “Medicare and Medicaid were created in a high trust environment.” “We assumed people would do the right things. We now are experiencing about $100 billion of theft a year, much of it because of the Covid pandemic impact on teaching criminals to move into healthcare.” “And we believe if we could just take the fraud out of Medicare, we would double the life expectancy of the Medicare trust fund, which means not only would you have it for your retirement, but it could be there for your kids as well.” That last point is the bigger issue Oz was getting at. This is huge! I have been saying this awhile now to family and friends. We do not have a $40 Trillion dollar debt. We have A $40 trillion dollar fraud which is growing. There must be a reckoning across the board! Thank you Dr. Oz !

The fraud out of Medicare? The fraud is well known to be Medicare Advantage Plans, which is NOT Medicare at all. It's private insurance for profit that doesn't follow the guidelines of Medicare. Too many congressional hearings without any actions taken. Talk is cheap.

Much of the fraud is done by illegals, and Democrats don’t want to upset them.

They had the Executive, Congress, Elon, DOGE, and a mandate - they did nothing to reduce the fraud. DOGE laid it out line by line, so they shitcanned DOGE. Now they restart the narrative, knowing they will lose Congress and have another excuse for not doing anything.

Conversely, medicare for all is effectively a death sentence for elderly and sick people, which is where much of the wealth is that needs to be redistributed.

He’s correct. I’m healthy, on Medicare, and have zero trust with doctors and insurance telling me what I should do, etc.

Worth pairing with the labor side of it: administrative headcount in US hospitals has grown far faster than clinical headcount for two decades. Whatever the fraud number turns out to be, the compliance response becomes its own permanent cost line.
