Ilia Topuria says he was offered to fight Islam Makhachev, accepted it, went to sleep and woke up to the news that Islam was injured: "Before I got the confirmation to fight Justin, I was supposed to fight Islam. Dana said he was supposed to make the announcements of the White House card. From the call I got from the UFC I knew that I was fighting Islam. The first fight they offered me was against Islam. So I went to sleep, and middle of the night I got 100 calls from the UFC saying '[Islam] is injured, you're gonna face Justin Gaethje.'" (via One On One)

🤝⚡️ Israel Adesanya compliments Islam Makhachev’s feinting game, and uses the JDM fight as an example of the best feints he’s seen in the UFC “[For the best in the UFC], you look at Islam vs JDM, I was very impressed with Islam’s feinting. I always say sometimes, I over-feint, but that’s good because they never know when it’s coming. Islam did that in his last fight, there were times he feinted 12 times before he even threw a jab. I was really impressed with that.”

He was doing some strange things that I didn’t like. Of course, I like Islam as a person, but the most serious contender, the one who deserved it, was me. Maybe I haven’t fought in a year, but I won seven fights in the UFC.” Via: ALF Global
