All true and we cover this in the first part of the episode. Nonetheless, Indians have become the face for this larger set of concerns owing to a lot of ways in quich Indians, while small in number (and relatively quick to assimilate), are uniquely conspicuous among recent immigrant groups

Post-WW2 America, after the 1920's immigration halt and a couple generations of top-down-reinforced assimilation, had something close to ideal: An anglo-culture white-majority high-trust society that still got the "good" effects of immigration like ethnic food. I grew up in the last decades of that, and I miss it.

@christopherrufo Stated preferences are often different than revealed preferences. Those who claim to prefer diversity are almost always an outgroup. When they become an ingroup, their revealed preference is almost always homogeneity, illustrating the stated preference was a tactic.
