This week is kicking off with a crazy hard project. I got told about this abandoned hotel with lots of dogs here. 🧵 Never mind the feeding or individual dog videos. This is the really important part of what I do… 14 dogs here 🐶 Have been feeding them... for 4 days to soften them up and befriend them 🥘 None of them sterilized so 14 will become 50 very soon ✂️ Some have lots of ticks and illnesses I can see from a distance 🐜 There are puppies of all ages and mums that are likely pregnant 😩 There was a threat from foreigners living locally that the dogs will have to “go”. Usually that means a very bad outcome for the dogs ☹️ They go to the main road and scavenge food and water. 💧 Catching 1 dog and getting a solution is hard but getting 14 is probably the biggest challenge I’ve ever faced…show more

While I was trying to count and feed the 14 a little caretaker from a neighboring villa called me over. One of the mums was using an outbuilding to shelter… 14 quickly became 19. This group are ok here for 1-2 days but I’m also on borrowed time with them…

I’ve a lot of things to do at once but will try over the next 3 days… Sterilizing as many as possible ✂️ Medicines for ticks 💊 Rehoming puppies 🏠 Moving dogs to safer areas 🌴 It’s probably about a $1000 problem but to be honest the hardest part is I can’t touch them. They are wary of strangers. If I could just pick them all up it would be ideal but I’ll have to get about 10 people involved, sedatives, traps, nets etc. People will just say… “Move them all to your land” “Take over the resort” “Get them homes”. Those are not realistic options. The problem has to be tackled in a number of ways there and then to mainly stop the numbers growing but also to ease pain and danger to the dogs. Not an easy week ahead but a bit challenge worth tackling 🥰🙏

Oh Niall, that’s going to be a difficult round up. I think you’ll need many helpers cos getting 1 or 2 will make the rest run. I could only think of something in their food to make them sleep while you gather them up. You don’t have room for a whole new gang but u won’t leave ‘em

The food option is good normally but very hard here as we can’t control who eats what and the puppies could die if they eat the adult dose for example

They just want food and water, a little bit of care, once they receive that, they aren't a theart unlike humans. They just mind their business and even protect the person who feeds them.
