🇺🇸 MOVE OVER KATY PERRY — THESE NASA WOMEN JUST SLAYED A SPACEWALK Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers stepped outside the ISS for a six-and-a-half-hour spacewalk yesterday, making it NASA’s first all-female spacewalk since 2023 — and only the 5th ever. Their mission? Move a space antenna (literally just a foot and a half), bolt on a bracket, and prep for new solar panels that’ll supercharge the ISS’s power. Oh, and yes, they were tethered so they didn’t just drift off into the void like “oops.” Source: ABC News, NBC News

Here’s your space weather report for the week of May 8 - 14: •1 M-class flare •1 C-class flare •31 coronal mass ejections •0 geomagnetic storms This video from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) shows the week’s activity. The active region we spotted last week (which erupted with an M-class flare and a CME last Sunday) has moved across the Sun and is now center-disk. It’s right next to a coronal hole that unleashed a stream of fast solar wind to Earth. We’ll be watching both regions for continued activity this week. Learn more about space weather:
