This weekend is striking me much more intensely than it ever has. The crucification and resurrection of Jesus Christ. What Jesus went through.. the way He remained silent to the priests and elder’s accusations who had arrested Him out of envy. How the priests and elders persuaded the mob... to crucify Jesus instead of the notorious criminal Barrabas. The way Pilate was persuaded by the mob and Pilate washed his hands of it and said, “I am innocent of this man’s blood. The responsibility is yours!” The way the soldiers mocked Him, tortured Him and crucified Jesus as the mob mocked, cheered and watched. The details of this utterly break my heart. And in the midst of it all while being crucified, He saved a man who was being crucified next to Him saying, “Today you will be with me in Paradise”. How on the cross being in excruciating pain He asked for forgiveness for those who were crucifying Him. “For they know not what they do.”💔 And Jesus did it all so that we could be washed clean and enter into heaven to be with Him. My prayer is that more than ever in the history of the humanity, God receives thankful prayers of love for the sacrifice He made and hearts open and receive Him into their lives this weekend. That He sees the gratefulness in our hearts for this life we have been so blessed to be given to stumble and journey through with Him. I also pray mercy for us all that He comfort and be with us every step of the way when we pick up our cross and say, “Here am I, send me.” If this reaches you I hope it’s comforting to know, you are not alone. Believe it or not I said something similar to God MANY moons ago. "Here am I, send me." So God sent me to do something that I did not fully comprehend at the time I offered myself in service to my Creator. I am VERY glad that I did. And Yeshua (Jesus Christ) was my inspiration & my rock all the way thru it!

What a wonderful display of strength and compassion Christ showed on the cross. What an amazing gift of grace was granted to an unworthy and undeserving people. What a beautiful sacrifice was made, even for those that denied him, spat upon him and mocked him.

I’ve just rewatched this video for a second time now 18 weeks later… This is unbelievably sad. In no way, shape, or form did this Orthodox gentleman explain the gospel of Jesus Christ. “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me HAS eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” (John 5:24) Jesus cleanses us of all our sins and brings us from death into eternal life through his death and resurrection, not because we deserve it, but because of the great love with which he loved us. For some, this is hard to understand. “Jesus answered him, ‘What I am doing you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand.’ Peter said to him, ‘You shall never wash my feet.’ Jesus answered him, ‘If I do not wash you, you have no share with me.’” (John 13:7-8) Accept the gift of grace that God has given you in Christ Jesus through his death and resurrection, and you will be cleansed. You can have assurance. He’s offering it to you. ACCEPT IT! BELIEVE! The Christian life is not a selfish pursuit, constantly trying to save yourself or maintain your salvation. The Christian life is a life of assurance, constantly pursuing the salvation of the world. “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.” (John 13:14-15) Jesus lived a perfect life, not to save himself, but to serve and save those who would believe in him. The wrath of God was poured out on Jesus. It was a free gift in the sense that we did nothing to deserve it, "yet while we were still sinners Christ died for us." But it was not free in that it came at great cost to Jesus, for He suffered and gave up His life to fulfill God's righteousness and wrath, so God would be just in having mercy on us. And following Christ it NOT free for us afterwards either, and this is another area I feel like the Western church never disciples people in: what it means to be a genuine Christian after converting. Paul says that "if Christ has not risen from the dead, we are of all people most to be pitied." There is great cost in this life to following Christ when Christianity isn't fake and used as a means to better pursue the idols of the American dream. “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple." Luke 14:26-30, 33 Jesus says a very similar thing in John, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him." John 12:23-26 Jesus literally says, "I'm going to go die. Now come follow me!" I genuinely do want to die as a martyr instead of growing old. Growing old, being in my sinful body decades longer and dying in a diaper sounds far worse than dying for the name of my Lord and Savior on the battlefield, which surely would please my King and store up much fruit for my eternity with Jesus. Genuine Christianity has no idols. It counts everything else as worthless compared to the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus our Lord. And genuine Christians abhor sin. Having to walk in this world with our sinful body attached to us, like a putrid corpse of a rotting dead man tied to our backs, makes the life of the Christian a violent war zone within. Fighting my flesh brings me to tears almost daily before my Lord and I cry, "Oh wretched man that I am, who will save me from this body of death?" Not to mention fighting the powers and principalities that rule this present darkness. Surely Satan torments Christians and not objects of wrath because Satan is afraid that he only has this life to torment Christians, whereas he has eternity to torment the rest. The only hope we have is the Holy Spirit and the fact that we have living within us "all the fullness of Christ" and "The same power that raised Christ from the dead" A real fear of the Lord must be an ingredient to obedience and part of the power to overcome sin. Proverbs 14:27 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, that one may turn away from the snares of death. Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. Psalm 25:12-14 Who is the man who fears the Lord? Him will he instruct in the way that he should choose. His soul shall abide in well-being, and his offspring shall inherit the land. The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant. Psalm 103:11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; Fear of the Lord is taught in the New Testament as well, but not much in the modern Church to our own peril. "So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied." Acts 9:31 "So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him." Acts 10:34-35 There will be no revival in the church until we start preaching the full character of God and the fear of the Lord returns. Yes God is good. Yes God is merciful. Yes God is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, but to teach that that is all that God is, is to lie about Him. For He is also righteous, just, holy, fearful, and full of wrath towards all who walk in sin. And there is no doubt in my mind teaching only the attributes of God that we think our congregations will like encourages Christians to walk in sin. The balance must return.

The wrath of God was poured out on Jesus. It was a free gift in the sense that we did nothing to deserve it, "yet while we were still sinners Christ died for us." But it was not free in that it came at great cost to Jesus, for He suffered and gave up His life to fulfill God's righteousness and wrath, so God would be just in having mercy on us. And following Christ it NOT free for us afterwards either, and this is another area I feel like the Western church never disciples people in: what it means to be a genuine Christian after converting. Paul says that "if Christ has not risen from the dead, we are of all people most to be pitied." There is great cost in this life to following Christ when Christianity isn't fake and used as a means to better pursue the idols of the American dream. “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple." Luke 14:26-30, 33 Jesus says a very similar thing in John, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him." John 12:23-26 Jesus literally says, "I'm going to go die. Now come follow me!" I genuinely do want to die as a martyr instead of growing old. Growing old, being in my sinful body decades longer and dying in a diaper sounds far worse than dying for the name of my Lord and Savior on the battlefield, which surely would please my King and store up much fruit for my eternity with Jesus. Genuine Christianity has no idols. It counts everything else as worthless compared to the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus our Lord. And genuine Christians abhor sin. Having to walk in this world with our sinful body attached to us, like a putrid corpse of a rotting dead man tied to our backs, makes the life of the Christian a violent war zone within. This past weekend I went to a Christian worship concert that featured several bands including Phil Wickham. During his set, Phil Wickham recounted one of the stories in the gospel of Mark, where one of the rulers of one of the synagogues by the name of Jairus came to Jesus and begged Him to come with him to heal his dying daughter. The story is found in the gospel of Mark chapter 5. Jesus began traveling to the man's house surrounded by multitudes of people crowding around Him. He stopped and healed a woman along the way, and then some came from the rulers house to tell him that his daughter had died, and not to trouble the Teacher any longer. When Jesus heard it, Jesus said to the ruler, "Do not be afraid; only believe." Jesus continued on to the man's house and as the girl was lying there, He took her hand and He raised her up to life again. "Do not be afraid; only believe." These were the words of our Lord that Phil emphasized. So many times throughout the gospels, our Lord says this in so many ways. Have faith. Trust. Believe. Jesus resurrected two others besides the young girl. One was a man named Lazarus, who was a friend of Jesus during that time when He was rejected by so many and accepted by so few. This account is found in the Gospel of John in chapter 11. Lazarus had two sisters, Mary and Martha, whom Jesus was also close with during His ministry. After Lazarus had been dead for four days, Jesus came to them and when He arrived, He was greeted (you might even say confronted) by Martha. Everyone was beside themselves over the loss. Herein we also get the shortest verse in the entire Bible (John 11:35), Jesus wept. In this account, we get the words from our Lord which are the entire essence of the gospel, also known as the good news! He says to Martha, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And WHOEVER lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?" Jesus, the Christ, the son of God who came into the world and is now sitting at the right hand of God until the appointed day, gives life! And just as He resurrected the three in the Gospels, and brought Himself back to life, so shall He do to believers and nonbelievers in the very end. He gives life those who are living even now, yet are dead in their trespasses (sins) if they repent (turn away from their sins) and put their trust in Him as their Lord and Savior. God came from heaven suffered and died as a man for the sins of the world, so that WHOEVER would believe in Him would have everlasting life. "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30)
