So basically how to ruin bread and butter pudding.

Heritage Medicine's profile picture
Heritage Medicine7 months ago

Exactly! Going overboard on sugar, cream, or extras can mask the classic flavors of bread and butter pudding. Keeping it simple often gives the best, most comforting results.

Who puts smelly HAIR REMOVAL CREAM in the fridge?

Heritage Medicine's profile picture

Haha, that’s a strange one! Definitely not something you’d normally store in the fridge. Seeing that next to food would throw anyone off a bit.

Dogs licking your spoon. One star for hygiene

No but there should be some standards in a kitchen.

I personally find it a bit uncomfortable to see dogs licking cooking utensils. Even if they are well cared for and vaccinated, dogs’ mouths still contain different types of bacteria, which is completely normal. But I’d rather keep pet items separate from kitchen utensils.

Heritage Medicine's profile picture
Heritage Medicine7 months ago

That’s a fair point. Even with well-cared-for pets, it’s understandable to prefer keeping kitchen utensils separate for hygiene reasons. Everyone has their own comfort level, and maintaining cleanliness in food preparation is important.

If you purposely want your family as unhealthy as possible, go ahead and serve this up. Good grief! She even said something like, “if you want it healthier”. 🤣 There’s nothing healthy about this mess.

Heritage Medicine's profile picture
Heritage Medicine7 months ago

get your point ,it’s definitely a very indulgent dish and not healthy by most standards. Sometimes recipes are meant as occasional treats rather than everyday meals. Moderation is key if you want to enjoy it without overdoing it.

Great. I’m happy to see you admit it’s an unhealthy indulgence.

How do you start cooking something with a stale bread? Throw that shit into the gabbage!

Heritage Medicine's profile picture
Heritage Medicine7 months ago

Stale bread can actually be really useful in cooking. It works great for things like French toast, croutons, or bread pudding. Instead of throwing it away, you can turn it into something tasty and avoid wasting food.

Karen Chiginsky's profile picture
Karen Chiginsky7 months ago

@Mazi_Clem And it soaks up the liquids better and doesn’t turn to a gooey paste when it does.

Heritage Medicine's profile picture
Heritage Medicine7 months ago

@Mazi_Clem Exactly! That’s why slightly stale bread works so well ,it absorbs the liquid without falling apart, keeping a nice texture instead of turning into a mushy paste. It really makes a difference in the final dish.

how about no dessert or fruit… …an as an american, i’m disgusted by the display of prepackaged food used here 😞

Heritage Medicine's profile picture

I understand your reaction. Prepackaged ingredients aren’t everyone’s favorite, especially when fresh alternatives exist. Some people use them for convenience, but it can definitely look less appealing to those who prefer fresh or homemade options.

Do most people allow their animals to eat from kitchen utensils?

Heritage Medicine's profile picture
Heritage Medicine7 months ago

Most people don’t, and for good reason ,animals’ mouths carry bacteria that can contaminate cooking utensils. It’s usually best to keep pet items separate from anything used for food preparation to stay safe and hygienic.

Pro tip for mess-free mixing: Keep your upper arm tucked firmly against your body (elbow in). Stir using only your forearm for rock-steady control—you’ll never spill.

Heritage Medicine's profile picture

Love this! Using your forearm with your elbow in gives much better control and reduces spills. Little tips like this make a big difference in keeping your kitchen clean and your mixing smooth.

Raw eggs for the dogs. M’kay!

Heritage Medicine's profile picture
Heritage Medicine7 months ago

Some people do give raw eggs to dogs for extra protein, but it’s always best to be careful and check what’s safe. Not every dog reacts the same, so it’s good to consult a vet before making it a regular thing.

Australia, I make it almost the same. Butter the bread both sides. Spread with strawberry jam. Leave out the pumpkin. Put in in a buttered baking pan. Cook on low heat 165C for 2 hours or until a skewer comes out clean. My mum made this all the time. It’s Great Depression food. No waste.

Heritage Medicine's profile picture
Heritage Medicine7 months ago

That sounds wonderful! 😊 Buttering both sides and adding strawberry jam must give it such a rich, comforting flavor. I love the history behind it too. simple, no-waste recipes like that really stand the test of time.

@DrPaiwanFan True, it’s a forgiving dish. You can add sugar to taste. Any type of sugar is fine. I use white or raw. Raw sugar adds a unique flavour.

Heritage Medicine's profile picture
Heritage Medicine7 months ago

@Iluvs2fishChris Absolutely! It’s a very forgiving dish, and adjusting sugar to taste makes it even better. Raw sugar does add a deeper, slightly caramel-like flavor compared to white sugar, nice choice!
