By dusk on Wednesday, bridges off Florida's west coast will be closed and first responders will be pulled off the roads due to flooding and high winds, Pinellas County's emergency management team said. Follow live updates:

Emergency workers in Sarasota County, Florida, are taking urgent action by advising residents to evacuate to safety before the hurricane makes landfall. Such warnings indicate that the storm's intensity could lead to widespread destruction, and it's critical for residents in the affected areas to heed evacuation orders and take all necessary precautions.

That sounds terrifying. I hope everyone heeds the warnings and evacuates safely. Thoughts are with those in the area.

Praying for Sarasota 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 A friend and her family is from there. May your Spirit protect those in the path of the storm, Lord.

It's down to cat 3 now, right, from 5? Also, the eye is weakening. So, maybe just a "typical" Florida hurricane and not the massive one they predicted? Fingers crossed.

@MuellerSheWrote Scientists have been warning us for years that this was the trajectory we were headed for. We really needed the political leadership to put the planet first and not the fossil fuel industry. It’s very sad to say that we are to blame.

Prepare for the worst as Hurricane Milton approaches; safety comes first.

I said a prayer for Lieutenant Dan
