I remember when I was young, around 10-11 years old. My parents were both asleep as was my brother. I heard a knock on the back door which was weird because who uses the back door at a stranger’s house? The kitchen window was close by so I take a look. It looked like a teenager but hard to tell because they had a hoodie with the hood up. I didn’t open the door but I did crack the window and asked them what they wanted. They replied they were lost and wanted to come in to warm up and use the phone. Even when it’s daylight I know never to let anybody in period that I didn’t know, but a stranger after midnight was weird enough. I said no because I didn’t know them. Then they said that hey knew my dad and that’s why he came by. I said that’s fine and all but I’m not letting you use our phone. This was before cellphones were widely used, we had a landline like most people. The person wouldn’t take no for an answer and I could sense he was getting angry. I went and woke up my dad, I told him there was somebody at the back door and that he said they knew him. He walked to the door and looked out and said he didn’t know him. But he did talk through the door and told him that he was calling the police and that he should just leave. The person just stood there until the police finally came and even they asked him what he was doing knocking on the door at that hour. He told them he was lost and thought this was a house of a family friend. The police told him my dad didn’t know him and made him leave. So was this a case of wrong house or was he up to something. It makes me still wonder to this day but I’m still glad I never opened the door.

Kristen Bell reveals Dax Shepard broke up with her, then called her back just four days later. “ He did break up with me very early on. I may have scared him a little because I wanted to spend all our time together. I was very excited, and he had just gotten out of a relationship and wanted more freedom. I don’t think he wanted everything I was presenting to him.” “ He sat me down and said, ‘I don’t think we’re in the same place. I really, really enjoy you.’ At that point, I was definitely in love with him. We were a month and a half in, and I was heartbroken. Even thinking about it breaks my heart.” “ He said, ‘I’m still casually dating other people.’ I definitely wasn’t. But he was very upfront. He said, ‘That’s not what you deserve, and I’m not going to give you anything half-assed.’ In a way, he was extremely responsible with my heart, even though he broke it.” “Then, four days later, he texted me: ‘I’m just joking. I can’t do this. I really would like to be with you again.’” “I went over to his house, but I was a little guarded. He had planned a trip to the Bahamas for New Year’s and said, ‘I should probably let them know if you’re going to come on the trip.’” “I said, ‘If you want to invite me on a trip, you can ask me like a lady.’” “I gave him some grief after that, and I think it set the tone for our relationship.” “My therapist had said, ‘Maybe make him earn you back just a little bit. Don’t play a game, but don’t go back like some happy, dumb puppy dog.’” “So he did. He said, ‘I would really like it if you would accompany me to the Bahamas for New Year’s. Would you like to come?’” “And I said, ‘Yes, I would love to.’”

Caller: "Okay. So, I've been with my wife for, we've been together since we were 14, for 14 years. I'm 32, I met her when I was 19, we had a child at 20. And, um, I've always just kind of been a butthead to her, to be honest. Every now and then I would demean her or make little comments, and I would say it started to really get bad about six weeks ago. Um, we were doing some work in the yard, and I really just blew up on her over the stupidest little thing. And then about a week later, we're just constantly arguing and dividing from each other. And then about a week or two later, she told me that she thought she was falling out of love with me. And it just really crushed me. I never would have thought that those words could come out of her mouth, and she told me that the way I treat her is, I'm not treating her the right way. And I completely owned it. I mean, I said everything you said is absolutely correct. You know, and I said, 'I don't want my son, our son growing up thinking that this is how you're supposed to treat women.' And, I mean, since that day, I have treated her like an angel. I mean, I've done everything and just constantly telling her I love her, giving her hugs, kisses. Um, but that was a Saturday night, and then Monday night she ended up telling me that she was, um, in communication with a guy she met on TikTok. And she told me she broke it off with him, and I asked her, What was the subjects about?' And she said it was just somebody to talk to about what I'm going through, my mental, you know, health. And she said it was never anything flirtatious or anything like that. She said it was just a stranger that I could talk to, but she said, 'I broke it off with him, and I'm gonna focus on us. And I said, 'I'm all in with you, let's rebuild this.' And we went about two weeks and it was just absolute honeymoon phase. I mean, we were just, never it was great. And then I went through her phone two weeks after that and found that she was on Snapchat with the guy. And I confronted her about it, and she said, 'Okay, well, I didn't think you were really gonna change, and I wanted to keep this friendship with the guy.' And she said, 'I'll break it off with him.' And I'm like, 'Okay, I guess I'll give you a second chance. I'm kind of heartbroken again that you would keep this from me. And then about a week and a half later, which was just yesterday, I went through the call logs on which, I feel bad because I'm constantly digging at all this, but every time I dig, I find something. And I confronted her yesterday that she's been talking to this guy for 30, 40, 50 minutes a day, um, the last week and a half, after she told me a third time that she was breaking it off with him. And I'm just super confused. I don't really know how to handle this. Now she's saying that she's all done talking to him, and I'm like, 'Well, how do I trust you now? You've been lying to me for the past three weeks about this.' So, that's really all I got." John Delony: "So for 14 years... you belittled your wife. She got the clear message she was beneath you. You're the smart one, you're the fast one, you're the quick one. You are the provider, you're the all this stuff." Caller: "Mhm. I always thought she was beneath me." John Delony: "Yeah, you did. And she's got that message for, for a decade and a half.

"I like 'Kiss Me Deadly' (1955) very much. I just don't think it was as important a film as some people thought it was." --- Robert Aldrich Full Excerpt: "Interviewer: We all like 'Kiss Me Deadly' (1955), but hear that you don't. Aldrich: Oh no, that's not true. I like this one very much and I'm very proud of it. If you remember when it was made was the time all the New Wave directors were editors on Cahiers. And they read into it many more things than were intended. And I think it was Truffaut who asked me at Venice the following year if I wasn't proud and happy or something about the things that Cahiers had said about it. And I am a lot older and wiser now, and I suppose I should have said "Yes" and let it go at that. But I said something to the effect that I was very glad they said it, but I couldn't really take credit for all those rather deep and significant thoughts because they weren't all intended. I am glad that they were there; maybe some of them were subconscious, but I thought a lot of them were read in. And naturally, if you had been the author of this kind of thing, you would have felt a little bit cheated, and I think they did. I think they didn't resent it, but they felt a little hurt . . . No, I like the picture very much. I just don't think it was as important a film as some people thought it was." (Robert Aldrich's interview with Ian Cameron & Mark Shivas, 1963) P.S: On this day, 71 years ago "Kiss Me Deadly" (1955) premiered in New York City, USA.

When I was at the pizza shop, a mom came in with her 3 kids. She ordered a small cheese pizza for the kid’s dinner, without judging her, I saw she pulled up in an older sky blue Dodge Caravan, it was missing a hubcap and a little rusty. The kids were clearly excited about the pizza, that tells me they didn’t get it often. I knew what I had to do. I invited the kids into the kitchen , I gave them each a medium pizza dough in a pan and told them to make their pie pizza however they wanted and that would show them how. I ladled some sauce on each of their pizza crusts and then told them to put some cheese on it, and they were having a blast, made a nice mess too but it’s cool I didn’t really care. Then I had them top their pizzas. The youngest one put four pepperonis on the whole pizza in which I intervened and told him he should space it out and put more so that he could have pepperoni in each bite. I also showed them how to make breadsticks and cinnamon sticks. The mom was so happy that her kids had a blast and I knew I did the right thing. I didn’t put her on blast I made it into a learning day for the kids and fed them well. Like this lady I grew up poor too, I know what it’s like to be hungry, and a hungry child is a sad sight to see for me, it reminded me of my own experience too much. So I always say to myself that if I can fix that I will. Am I going to solve world hunger? No, but if I can make a difference in somebody’s life I will. I’m sure you would too. This woman clearly has her heart in the right place by feeding the kids in the neighborhood, she is truly leading by example.
