He’d key-in on someone that stood-out to him during warm-ups, and mention that casually as the game started. More often than not it felt like he was either a tremendous eye for that sort of thing or could tell a great story. It was both, but the former too often to not be special

I know he was aging and I know it’s not a big shocker in the grand scheme of things.. but I don’t think a celebrity death has ever impacted me the way this one is right now. I could listen to him and Rick jeanerete calls for the rest of my life and never get bored. RIP 🐐

I think what people miss when watching highlights is that anticipation in Mike's voice. He didn't have that same sound all the time. It came out of him almost seemingly every time a big goal was coming. He could see the game the way great players do. 2 or 3 steps ahead

I was at that game so I cannot attest to that, but he had this feel as to a play or player that was going to happen that moment, He did. If I can find the call in a reg season game against Montreal & Patrick Roy, I will post it. It was uncanny. He predicted a SHG against Roy

This whole game was legendary and his call on all of the 10 goals was epic. However my favorite call is Geno’s hat trick goal against Carolina in game 2 of the ECF. I was there and on the ride home listening to @bobgrove91 replay the calls was a tradition and this call was🔥
