This is lovely!!! I lost my mom last year to dementia. We went and played electronic bingo, and win or lose, she loved every second of it. Cherish your moms, they are a blessed gift!

I’m sorry for your loss 🙏

Thank you. She is with dad now. They were together for 65 years, and now, forever.

The way your mum looks at you, immediately made me cry! I promised each of my girls, on their births that no matter what happens along their journey through life, I will always be their first port of call. No matter what. Your mum shows that in her gaze into your eyes. When you don’t have that with your own mum, you have 2 choices. Keep the trauma circle going, or break the fucking chain. My elder years gaze to my girls and 4 grandchildren, will always be like your mums to you. How very lucky we are 💫❤️💫

@IndianaGPA 🥰

I wish the memory care homes would do this. Set up a room that's themed every few months even. Christmas, Valentines, St Paddy's, Easter, Thanksgiving, Halloween etc... I think they'd so enjoy that!

Honestly, that would be me. I love Christmas decorations. 🥹❤️🙏

Brings so much joy to her

Me too

I don’t even have dementia and I want a Christmas room 😂

Imagine building a reality that’s exactly what your loved one would want to live in every single day of their life.

@LynneB8898 I love this! ♥️

@LynneB8898 I knew you would

Shortly before his passing, my father—who suffered from Alzheimer’s and was almost completely nonverbal—pointed at my children sitting next to the tree, stood up, and gleefully exclaimed, ‘It’s Christmas!’ It was a fleeting yet wonderful awakening before his death.

My daughter has autism and most of the music we listen to year-round is Christmas music. It makes her happy and by extension, makes me happy too.

@GodWins4u It’s wonderful! When my mom was alive and her dementia, she loved coming to visit and sit in my dining room. It kept her entertained and happy.

God bless 🙏 having dementia is hard on not only them but you as well

This hit very hard because my mom has dementia and we have to keep old southern rock playing as it brings her lots of joy

I don’t need dementia to do this… my husband is going to be pissed.

When my Mom had dementia she would take down Christmas and other holidays decor with a couple days of it going up. She would stack it in an empty corner 😣 Dementia is cruel.

Here's another tip. If your relative with Alzheimers has hearing aids, find their favourite music on an iphone, route it through the hearing aids and put the iphone in their pocket. The music will calm and relax them. Headphones will work too but hearing aids are better.

This is so beautiful that’s such a great idea she’s so blessed that her children would do that for her she has to be a wonderful mother

It sure does! As my mother went further into dementia, singing would bring her joy. Music touches our hearts and stays with us forever. Thank you to all who help your loved ones live in their reality instead of trying to force them to live in yours. As long as their reality is not gonna harm them, Let them enjoy it. Let them have dill pickles on their salad. Let them drink hot sauce out of a straw. Let them listen to Christmas music all year round. If it’s not gonna hurt them, play along.

Wins my ❤️. She looks like my mom who died 29 years ago. She loved Christmas and always made the best Christmas for her 5 daughters not to mention the whole neighborhood.

This is beautiful. I feel like this would be me. Especially if I end up w dementia. My absolute favorite time of year. Decorations and trad Christmas music just makes me feel so good and happy. And at peace. Love to her daughter for doing this for her! ❤️

This is such a wonderful idea!

What better way to keep her in bliss 🔥

Winner...

The best book for those coping with dementia in family members is called the 36 hour day. I found the Alzheimer Association to be absolutely useless. No help whatsoever. Just a whole bunch of people pretending to help.

I love this so much. I’m crying because people still don’t know there is a cure for dementia and Alzheimer’s

My best friend growing up, his granddad, had dementia. He was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs. They had a stack of VHS tapes of Cubs games. During the season, he watched them every time they played. Off season, pop in a tape and he was happy as a clam.

💕💕💕

I’ve currently taken care of my mother for the past 8 years and her dementia is pretty bad now. This is a great idea.

Dementia is unpredictable. I tried to do the same for my afflicted dad because he also loved Christmas trees, but the day after Christmas, he dragged the 7-foot tree into another room. 😑

That's so sweet

I know someone who did that for his wife. The tree stayed up for three years. He moved the tree near her hospice bed so she could reach out and touch it. Broke his heart when he finally took down the tree.

You can see the joy in her vibrant smile!

Lovely but makes my heart ache for all of u. I know what this is like 😔

I did things like this for my Mom with dementia. She liked Criminal minds, so we played it for her on a loop.

Bless her heart.♥♥♥

I do this for my grandma who has dementia and also loves Christmas and let me tell you, it’s hard to watch nonstop Christmas movies and listen to Christmas songs all day! But I do it because I love her.
