Minimizing first definitely makes this easier. I meditated on my house becoming decluttered while on vacation. Got back home and ALL THE FURNITURE WAS GONE. I had been robbed. I just sat there and laughed (on the floor). House never got cluttered again.

if you watch more of her videos you’ll get the vibe eventually. one offs don’t tell the whole story my fave distinction of hers is between cleaning and tidying cleaning (mopping floors, scrubbing, etc) vs simply tidying (putting things away)

yup! that one distinction made such a difference for me. I stopped putting pressure on myself to do both, so I feel freer to just tidy more often and I feel like once that becomes an ingrained habit I can get to more consistent cleaning

I love this I am good at maintaining order but so so bad when things get messy. When I’ve lived places where things have homes it’s very easy for me to just put things away when I’m done with them

yes exactly! like oh I know where this goes! easy I have this closet in my bathroom that I need to reorg. so bad but I have a this cardboard box where I put my hairdryer and every time I put it there I’m like this is so dumb why do I keep this here? but it’s actually great 😅

i'm like this too and i agree with everything she is saying, it helps with cleaning too because if there is not that much on the floor or on surfaces, dirt is very visible and easy to hit real quick when you notice it. also i highly recommend a handheld vacuum

Pro Tip: Do NOT organize things like this lady does, not matter how pleasurable it is to watch her videos, or you are OCD and cannot help yourself from buying tiny containers for tiny things and sorting them. Seek therapy. THINGS THAT HOLD THINGS take up more space than the things you felt compelled to sort. Remember this. Instead, own fewer things. If you MUST buy bins, buy really big ones and throw everything in them. Nothing you own, save for jewelry, is valuable enough to rate little individual bins. If you bin something and don't use it for a year, get rid of it.

Theres a related minimalist concept that every item you have is silently ordering you to manage it, so having fewer items creates fewer demands.

"I don't clean" then a full video of all the things she probably cleans 1 or multiple times a day. Yes, things need their dedicated place, I agree. But putting them back in their place IS also cleaning.

What I saw was a ton of cleaning Not “things magically finding their way back to their home” 😂

You also have to have room for all those storage cubbies and baskets and things like that. I would have no space in my home for that huge white cabinet, and when you have very little space, even organized things are cluttery.

I really hate when they take things out of perfectly good boxes to put into some sort of plastic container. What happens if they don't all fit? Then you have the box and a container.

That's how I lived when I was single and had no kids. Once there are other people in your house, it's over. You have to make peace with the shit show or you'll be miserable. I guess I can have a nice clean house when I'm old.

You have to have a home compatible with “a place for everything”. Not everyone has a renovated or new Build modern home with cabinets and place for storage.
