I was a recipient of the 6th National MSME 2024 awards from the federal government, yesterday in Abuja, in recognition of our efforts in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). We are gladdened that our modest efforts in this space are gaining national attention. In February this year, our government launched a ₦1 billion fund to empower Nano, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (NMSMEs) in our state. We have also expanded our support for traders, entrepreneurs, and tech enthusiasts in various other ways. In line with our campaign promises, we have prioritized capacity building targeting at least 40,000 youths across the state annually on digital innovation, programming, digital marketing, financial technology, entrepreneurship, among other requisite technological, financial, and business skills that would enable them to compete in the global digital and entrepreneurial markets. We have also deployed technology and smart education to integrate Enugu economy into the emerging global digital economy full of opportunities for them to thrive. We are currently moving away from analogue and anachronistic ways of doing things to modern ways enabled by technology and application of electronic platforms in governance. Tomorrow is here!

I resumed my post today in the Government House, as the Head of Zamfara Information Technology Development Agency (ZITDA). We will roll out our robust ICT Policy and Digital Strategy in the next coming days. Two comprehensive documents that will highlight Governor Dauda Lawal’s priority areas. These will open up strategic investments in digital infrastructure, tech ecosystem, digital skills, and entrepreneurship and innovation. Zamfara is open for partnership and collaboration with critical stakeholders in the digital economy.

Our technical colleges have, over the years, been left to rot, undervaluing the unique type of education they provide and the critical role they play in building a skilled and productive society. We are changing that by strengthening these institutions to focus on practical, technical, and vocational skills that prepare our students for real opportunities. The tools and equipment provided are deliberately selected to align with future-ready skills, not outdated methods, ensuring our students are trained for the realities of today and tomorrow. These schools are equipped to nurture not just future employees, but future employers, giving students the tools and environment to practice what they are taught and build real capacity. Our goal is clear: to prepare our young people for the future by giving them access to the right skills, resources, and opportunities to succeed. In addition, students will benefit from incubation programmes after school, supporting those with entrepreneurial ambitions to turn their ideas into reality. Tomorrow is here.

Two years ago, we met a group of women in Chikkodi, Belgaum. Many were in debt. Some had never thought about savings or budgeting. We spent 2 days together learning the basics of financial literacy through Varsity with the help of Svatah Foundation (SVATAH: Education Foundation) and Pankh India (Pankh India Foundation). But instead of stopping there, we kept in touch and continued helping them for 2 years. Today, most of these women are debt-free. For someone from a low-income background, that's true financial independence. This is why we do what we do. 😀

Last year, Afroculture being the production house for Shattafest came with a bigger responsibility than ever before. We weren’t just there to film an event. We were tasked with documenting what was described as one of the largest gatherings of people in Ghana — 500,000 people. And it was anything but easy. We faced immense challenges — losing our drone, navigating intense pressure, fighting our way through the crowd, and pushing our equipment and team to their limits. But through it all, we kept shooting. Because we knew this wasn’t just another concert. We were documenting history. Every frame, every aerial shot, every moment captured became part of the visual record of a day that will forever live in Ghana’s history. The challenges were real. The pressure was intense. But the result was worth it. We etched that date into the history of Ghana through our visuals. This is what production means to us. We don’t just capture moments. We create the visual history of them.

This past Tuesday, I met with the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications to review the year 2025 and the work that we have done together. I am convinced that we have made significant strides this year, but the real impact and implementation will begin in 2026. Working together, I am confident we can achieve the digital vision of H.E. President John Dramani Mahama. I want to express my gratitude to the Members of the Chamber for their continued partnership and look forward to working with them to complete the #ResetAgenda in the sector with bold initiatives in 2026. Today, I had the honour of joining His Grace Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi and the Zion Christian Church family at Defe in Gokwe, where we celebrated 450 ZCC youths graduating with practical and vocational skills. Through the partnership between the ZCC and the Ministry of Youth Empowerment Development and Vocational Training our young people have been equipped with skills that can transform their lives, families and communities. This is empowerment in action moving our youth from training to production, from job seeking to job creation and from dependency to economic participation. I commend the ZCC for demonstrating the powerful role the Church can play in national development. Faith, skills and hard work must translate into productivity. Together we are building an empowered and prosperous Zimbabwe.

I met with Ghana’s Foreign Minister Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa and thanked him for this visit, the first in our countries’ history. We discussed specific areas where we can advance our partnership: agriculture, defense cooperation, and expanding programs for Ghanaian students to study at Ukrainian universities. Ghana will chair the African Union next year, and it is important that we make the most of this period to strengthen ties between Ukraine and Africa. We also held detailed discussions on how Russia recruits citizens of Ghana and other countries in Africa to participate in the war against Ukraine, and how we can counter this. Our teams will remain in contact on this issue. I am grateful to Ghana for its clear support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as for backing our positions in UN General Assembly resolutions.
