I think he’s referring to a Qurʾānic Tafsīr, and not necessarily another Qurʾān. While some Twelvers can, and do hold to the Qurʾān being distorted - والعياذ بالله - others can (and today the majority do) hold that the Qurʾān isn’t distorted which is what brother Daniel has been arguing - that it’s a case by case issue.

Is this Islam? .. People are telling me that this has nothing to do with Islam .. They say that this is an innovation made up by The Shia Muslims MY REPLY .. (1) In Sunni hadith books and traditions, it is clearly mentioned that the Prophet Mohammad (as) cried and mourned for his grandson Imam Hussain (as) .. So, therefore, it is the sunnah of the Prophet (as) to cry and mourn for Imam Hussain (as) .. There is no set way of mourning .. People mourn in different ways according to their customs and culture .. And it is all okay, unless it turns into something haram and forbidden (a sin) (2) .. In The Quran (42:23) Allah (swt) orders us to love the Prophet’s family .. When someone you love gets murdered in such a way, you will not mourn and cry for them? (3) .. In The Quran (51:29) Sarah smacked herself and Allah (swt) did not say that she did something wrong or forbidden .. Allah (swt) did not say that she did an evil thing .. If there was any issues whatsoever, Allah (swt) in His infinite wisdom and knowledge would have said something right there and then Side note - When i converted to Islam, i had a look at both Sunni and Shia .. It was very clear to me that Shia Islam is the True Islam .. I consider sunni’s as Muslims .. but I encourage them not to follow blindly and to do more research with an open heart

"Islamic Ummah" By: Ofer Binshtok The identity of the Muslim is solely to be a part of the global Islamic nation, without any connection to a nation-state or to another culture that is not the Islamic nation. The idea of independent Islamic nation-states contradicts the Islamic idea as it is found in the Quran and the Sunnah of Muhammad. A Muslim, wherever he is in the world, is part of the Islamic nation. A nation that should be ruled by a caliph through Sharia law. Islam is a global political-religious worldview of a world without borders. The existing Islamic nation-states are actually an act of heresy. A disbeliever who converts to Islam must completely break away from his former identity, become part of the Islamic nation, and serve its purposes personally. Every Muslim, wherever he is, is personally obligated to act so that the Islamic nation will be established—that is to say, to collapse every nation-state that exists in the world so that the Islamic nation will replace it. The fact that the idea of ummah is included in the central motif of the Quran is evidence of the vital significance of this concept. In Islamic terminology, the term "Ummah" refers to the religious community, also known as the Islamic holy community. This is the primary interpretation of the phrase found in the Qur'an. Quran 2.128 "Our Lord, and make us Muslims [in submission] to You and from our descendants a Muslim nation [in submission] to You. And show us our rites and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful." Quran 2.143 "Thus, have We made of you an Ummat justly balanced, that ye might be witnesses over the nations, and the Messenger a witness over yourselves; and We appointed the Qibla to which thou wast used, only to test those who followed the Messenger from those who would turn on their heels (From the Faith). Indeed it was (A change) momentous, except to those guided by Allah. And never would Allah Make your faith of no effect. For Allah is to all people Most surely full of kindness, Most Merciful." Quran 3.104 "Let there be one nation of you, calling to good, and bidding to honour, and forbidding dishonour; those are the prosperers." Quran 3.110 "You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah. If only the People of the Scripture had believed, it would have been better for them. Among them are believers, but most of them are defiantly disobedient." Quran 16.92 "And be not like her who undoes the thread which she has spun after it has become strong, by taking your oaths a means of deception among yourselves, lest a nation may be more numerous than another nation. The fact that the idea of ummah is included in the central motif of the Quran is evidence of the vital significance of this concept. In Islamic terminology, the term "Ummah" refers to the religious community, also known as the Islamic holy community. This is the primary interpretation of the phrase found in the Qur'an. Quran 2.128 "Our Lord, and make us Muslims [in submission] to You and from our descendants a Muslim nation [in submission] to You. And show us our rites and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful."
