If only someone had thought of it...

The reason why this isn't a thing in combat or any event really is because. Wherever lying down in necessary the lever get cannot fully cycle, due to hitting the ground. And thus bolt actions were preferred over lever actions. The same goes for most bullpups, they're more awkward to reload from behind the grip vs in front when lying down (prone)

derp,..Winchester 1895 (Russian)

same logic, would have saved 1000s

45-70

Uuuuh... Somebody tells bro it already exists. It's that kind of technology that allowed the american north to defeat the american south in the US civil war

It is reliability, not speed, that saves lives on the battlefield. This is not reliable.

>soldier crawls/falls >trench mud gets into the mechanism >it breaks

wtf are these goobers yapping about in here? If you wanna rack it while prone, turn the gun onto its side. Still faster than a bolt action. And Precision shots? Are we serious? No one is fanning that thing with the expectation to be precise.

ah yes, guns, known for saving people

Hey...You better let @TheAKGuy or @ForgotWeapons have a gander at that thing. Hope and pray its not a french rifle, or you'll get this reaction.

ask yourself why rube goldberg devices were not favored over bolt action for wars prior to developing semi autos.

Obligatory tagging of future congressman, and Medal of Honor recipient @TheAKGuy for cursed guns

Can’t fire lever from prone position while keeping sights on target.

You know what I had the exact same idea what if I convert that bolt action sniper into a lever action sniper?

Already existed back then, and it was pointless. Added material cost, more failure points, can't use a lever action well when braced against trench walls and fortifications, and machine guns and artillery did the heavy lifting. Rapid fire bolt actions would've changed nothing.

I'm curious on how the bolt is locking.

You're not taking any precision shots that way, especially when you factor in the recoil

Well technically it would be rather neutral about lives, since an equal number of baddies are going down at the same rate goodies are staying alive 😆

They did Winchester 1895, served in Russia

There used to be old grainy training video's of the US Calvary at Fort Ord when they still used horses showing them shooting their bolt action rifles (Springfields?) and they were able to shoot faster than this.

What do you mean save lives?

how do you reload laying down?

Most military had lever action rifles at first, but switched to both action because they were better you could fire and reload while keeping the sites on the target from any position this is a dumb video

Lmao a reverse engineered lever action pulling a bolt

I'm not an engineer, but isn't this system too unreliable in case of dirt, sand, water and mechanical damage?

Are you under the impression this man invented the lever action?

What the fuck is that? And also, no.

can someone pls explain what is happening here and how this apparatus would assist u in using this gun pls? i’m british btw.

Nice shear point for the trigger finger lmfao

Now get on a trench or go prone and do the same

might as well make the trigger pump to fire while you're at it

Russians improvised pretty much same system and used them effectively against the Japanese in 1904. To be an effective rapid-rife gun,it requires a straight-pull rifle, which is fed by an n-bloc magazine. Photo credit: Iain McCallum (I think)
