Farmers pay tax. I pay tax. We want to pay tax (as much as anyone else wants to pay tax) If we could afford the inheritance tax bill we would pay it. Like we pay everything else. We either have the inheritance tax rules reversed or we have to demand better prices for our produce to be able to pay the tax. Farmland can’t be and must not be sold to pay the tax. Food security is the priority for this country and we have to protect it. Here’s my thoughts on what we can do about this.

Victoria’s debt is at over $200 BILLION and rising. We now spend $24 MILLION PER DAY in interest payments - that’s just the interest to service the debt. We now spend more on debt than we do on police (and that’s no surprise, given that criminal incidents last year were the highest since records began). Victorians are crying out for leaders with a plan to get us out of this catastrophic situation. Because if we don’t, the tsunami of debt will wash away everything we’ve built.

On 18 March, this year, we interacted with the University of Pretoria (UP). We thanked the VC for making submissions to the EFF Student Debt Bill, and asked about the rationale behind withholding certificates of graduates 🎓 Today, we wake up to the news that UP has launched a R 50 Million Campaign to clear debt and release withheld certificates. Although, the number is relatively low, this is a good initiative which will become a pressure point for our struggle against Student Debt. We will win! We have to, for the future of this country. #RegisterToVoteEFF Link:
