Introducing shadcn/typeset. You know how you render markdown and get back plain, unstyled HTML? Headings, paragraphs, lists, tables. So you style the elements one by one: font sizes, line heights, spacing. You do it for your blog. Then you do it again for docs. Then again for the chat. Every time, you're fighting the same thing: sizing and spacing. To fix this, we created typeset.css: one file that styles everything inside a typeset container. It lives in your project, so you can change it directly when you need to. And we made it work beautifully with streaming markdown.

The worst take about the web is that you should not use JS/React/etc because HTML alone is good enough. It's an 'austerity mind virus' that has captured even some smart engineers. The idea that the web is for 'documents' and if it stays in its own little box like 1995 it's going to somehow be better for the world. This is how we ended up with Safari having the most obnoxious limitations, including a back/forward navigation gesture that makes the web feel like a horrendous 'digital book' of sorts. No, the web is also for dynamic, rich, interactive applications. JS is a key ingredient in the recipe, otherwise every click and interaction will have to hit a server, feel slow, and we'll always be a second class citizen. The web's developer freedom & better deployment model will win in the end, but it can't come at the expense of quality.

HTML Artifacts are a big part of how I work with agents now. Artifacts can be more than just static files. When combined with agents, they can take action or help you take action. This unlocks all kinds of interesting ways to work with agents. This is clearly the future. Check out this writing and scheduler artifact I built in a few minutes. It uses a bit of HTML and JS. All the data is in markdown (Obsidian vaults), so the agent can access and modify it at any time. No DB needed. No sophisticated functionalities. The agent decides all that for me based on the skills, context, and memory it has access to. The best part about this simple stack is that all the important information stays with me. This has allowed me to build a recursive self-improving system and automations that can better tap into coding agents like Codex or Claude Code. I could have paid or built an entire app for scheduling posts, and there are so many of them out there. But I don't need to. I've realized a simple artifact does the job. And the simplicity of it is actually an advantage. Very little maintenance for very high returns on personalization, time, and efficiency. The other benefit of this is that I can add features as I please. That level of personalization feels magical, and we should all be pursuing more of it. All of this just keeps compounding. Of course, this example is just about writing. But I have similar artifacts for research, design, experimentation, evaluation, and so much more. And no, I didn't actually publish the post example I shared in the clip. It was just for demonstration purposes. I actually spend more time than this when writing together with agents. Lastly, having built my own agent orchestrator tool has made me realize that simplifying the tool stack is a superpower. This exploration led me to create Daydreams.Systems (x402, 8004 agents), which focuses on the hardest problems of agents: long time-horizon goals using Hierarchical task networks (HTN). Daydreams agents don't require custom code—they work entirely based on 'sleeves'—which are just markdown files that explain how the agent can interact with the service (API docs, game guides, etc.) My thesis is simple. By focusing on the hardest problem (games), the design of the library will naturally lean towards an optimal structure for any problem an agent could face.
