Two things can be true at the same time: We can acknowledge the brutal reality of the Iranian regime and their murdering of protesters. And we can also know for sure that a forever war will not resolve that issue. We’ve seen what’s happened in other areas in the Middle East — in Libya, in Syria, and beyond. Regime change is not our decision. We learned that the hard way in Iraq and Afghanistan - I fought in both of those wars. We ended up there for a long time in a war we didn’t understand. Regime change can only come from one place: the people of Iran. But let’s be clear - we may not be at war with Iran, but they are at war with us. I support Israel’s strikes fully and hope they are successful in debilitating Iran’s military.
