Thomas Massie’s (Thomas Massie) accuser Cynthia West released a powerful video that essentially calls Massie a liar: “Speaking the truth about powerful people comes with attacks, intimidation, and smears. I expected that.” As I just pointed out, Members of Congress have more leeway with the ethics committee on their...

My name is Naor Narkis. I am an opposition political candidate in Israel, a member of the Democrats party, currently running an active campaign to change the government. I am reaching out to you after my Facebook and Instagram accounts were both blocked 48 hours ago. These are not minor accounts. Together, they generate over 25 million views per month, making them among the most influential political voices on social media in a country of just under 10 million people. The suspension came just hours after Amit Segal, one of Israel's most powerful television journalists and broadcasters, known to be close to Prime Minister Netanyahu, publicly attacked my freedom of speech in a series of posts on X. He was joined by several journalists from major Israeli media outlets, all targeting my political activity and my campaign to change the government. His posts preceded the suspension of my accounts by just a few hours. At the very moment my campaign was at the center of Israeli public debate, my accounts on Facebook and Instagram were suspended. As of this moment, I have no access whatsoever to my accounts. Despite reaching out to official Meta employees in Israel, the issue remains unresolved. This is precisely the kind of intervention we have read about in 'Careless People' by Sarah Wynn-Williams, the ways in which powerful social media platforms have been used across different countries to interfere in democratic processes and tilt the balance of power in favor of autocratic and anti-democratic forces. At this moment, I am experiencing what I can only describe as political interference and the weaponization of the world's largest social network against free speech happening here, in Israel. In the coming hours, I will be taking legal action against this interference in Israel's democratic process by Meta. I call on international press freedom organizations, journalists, and media outlets around the world to cover and investigate this case. What is happening here is not just an Israeli story, it is a warning for every democracy in the world.

[DID YOU KNOW] Disobeying the South African Police Service National Instruction 5 of 2017 is a punishable offence in terms of disciplinary regulations. The new trend of posting pictures and video clips in uniform on various social media platforms, directly contravenes National Instruction 5 of 2017. According to Section 19(10) of National Instruction 5 of 2017 on Media Communication in the South African Police Service, the following rules must be adhered to: No member may, on their own accord, represent the SAPS on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc., either on their own social media accounts or those belonging to the SAPS. No member may use a profile picture of themselves in uniform or display any police insignia, badges, or logos as their avatar on their private social media accounts. Only with the approval of the Head of Corporate Communication and Liaison may a social media profile be set up for or on behalf of the SAPS on any social network. Accordingly, no station, cluster, unit, or office of the SAPS is permitted to have a social media profile or account without approval. These regulations ensure that all members execute their duties professionally within the confines of the law. Any employee who transgresses in any form or manner will be subjected to the processes of the applicable Disciplinary Regulations. All SAPS members are required to subscribe to the SAPS Code of Conduct and Dress Code and adhere to them when performing their daily duties and interacting with the public. Your efficiency, professionalism, integrity, respect, and empathy are vital to service delivery and the SAPS’s reputation, which in turn influences the community's trust in their police service.

I watched the press conference of PMLN women Parliamentarians and Minister regarding the deep fake video campaign against Azma Bokhari. As a Woman and lawyer, I also condemn this vilification campaign against Azma Bokhari. I want to use this opportunity to remind PMLN leaders that respect of all women irrespective of their political affiliation is important. PMLN leaders have a history of attacking women in public office, and associated social media accounts have undertaken targeted campaign against Bushra Bibi, Kanwal Shauzab MNA Zartaj Gul Wazir and many others with impunity. PMLN must carry out introspection and identification of those who run hate campaigns against women belonging to PTI within their ranks. Last year Kanwal Shauzab MNA and I were the target of the most horrific and filthy deep fake video campaign campaign on social media platforms. The campaign was initiated and propagated by social media accounts associated with PMLN and followed by its leaders including Maryam Nawaz. To date the perpetrators remain free and have not been held to account. Shameful and condemnable. FIA continues to be used as a political tool against PTI and to curb dissent but has failed to protect the rights of women in the online space despite wide powers. All political parties must undertake collective efforts to put an end to this culture of harassment and character vilification of women in public office. Those who break the law must be held accountable.
