People creating new social media accounts will have to prove that they are above a certain age as the plans are to introduce social media bans for young people. Users will need a passport, ID card or digital ID to generate “over X age” proofs for platforms. For now, it seems that it will target new accounts but some are also pushing for retroactive ID requirement to verify already existing social media accounts.

I'm posting this not to complain about abuses, but to let you know how the Islamic ecosystem works. Just see the handle names; almost all are with Hindu names. Jihadists have created lakhs of fake accounts to use like this. It seems they use some kind of tech because they're making the same comments on different posts at the same time with different accounts. GOI should come up with something to stop this, as such things can be used in creating violence, etc. In my opinion, Aadhar verification to create a social media account should become compulsory. If someone donated at least $500,000 to OFA during his Presidency, they were guaranteed 4 meetings a year with then President Obama. In other words, Obama was selling access to the White House. It stands to reason that people donating large amounts of money to OFA also had influence over the social media posts coming from his accounts. Again, anyone from anywhere in the world could anonymously donate to OFA and receive access to President Obama. We are very fortunate to again have a President in office who posts his own thoughts.

As a Woman and lawyer, I also condemn this vilification campaign against Azma Bokhari. PMLN must carry out introspection and identification of those who run hate campaigns against women belonging to PTI within their ranks. Last year Kanwal Shauzab MNA and I were the target of the most horrific and filthy deep fake video campaign campaign on social media platforms. The campaign was initiated and propagated by social media accounts associated with PMLN and followed by its leaders including Maryam Nawaz. To date the perpetrators remain free and have not been held to account. Shameful and condemnable. FIA continues to be used as a political tool against PTI and to curb dissent but has failed to protect the rights of women in the online space despite wide powers. All political parties must undertake collective efforts to put an end to this culture of harassment and character vilification of women in public office. Those who break the law must be held accountable.

Last year Kanwal Shauzab MNA and I were the target of the most horrific and filthy deep fake video campaign campaign on social media platforms. The campaign was initiated and propagated by social media accounts associated with PMLN and followed by its leaders including Maryam Nawaz. To date the perpetrators remain free and have not been held to account. Shameful and condemnable. FIA continues to be used as a political tool against PTI and to curb dissent but has failed to protect the rights of women in the online space despite wide powers. All political parties must undertake collective efforts to put an end to this culture of harassment and character vilification of women in public office. Those who break the law must be held accountable.
