Thomas Sowell: “What the welfare system and other kinds of governmental programs are doing is paying people to fail.” “In so far as they fail, they receive the money. In so far as they succeed, even to a moderate extent, the money is taken away.”

Welfare is a form of modern slavery. It holds good people back! Work just 1 hour - you lose your package! Who supports a system like that?!

The benefit cliff is very real. Employers are often confronted with the reality of giving raises or promotions to employees to have them turned down. Why? Because if the employee takes the promotion and receives a higher pay, they do the math and understand benefits will be reduced or taken away. This mindset promotes failure. Having a system that promotes remaining in poverty is a horrible trap.

EXACTLY the mechanism of the UK welfare culture. Those capable of work are denied the satisfaction and of a good days work #selfesteem and those who can’t work are stigmatised 💀🏛️💷 #thomassowell is a genius.

It’s modern day slavery, albeit economic dependency slavery, crafted by the original party of slavery…the democrats.

IQ exists it is genetic, some people have high IQ and some people have low IQ. No matter what they low IQ people do they will fail. Oddly enough the people with the highest IQ tend not to be that greedy and are content with less. Be reasonable with those of low IQ.

soft disagree the purpose of civilization is to bolster each other against threats that challenge our survival. to that extent, some degree of welfare is appropriate, but programs like SNAP and medicaid do punish upward mobility as compared to farm or energy subsidies

Collectivism rewards failure and punishes success, so why succeed? That is why collectivist systems always go bankrupt.

Empowering progress while helping those in need requires shifting focus from mere spending adjustments to strategies that prioritize work, individual empowerment, and systemic change.

So, when Jesus fed the 5,000, he was teaching the 5,000 to fail. When the Good Samaritan paid for the victim of a mugging, he was teaching the victim to be a victim. Thomas Sowell is an Uncle Tom who learned early on what to say to be successful in the company of racists.
