This may be not fake. In my country, it is called ‘Ma Da’, it is a kind of Ghost. We have heard many real stories from people have encountered these Ghosts.

So the guy got pulled out, realized it and grab candles to investigate. And instead of running for his life he collected the fishing net. Doesn’t seem like life threatening.
