That looks scary as hell

You wouldn't want the timing on one of them to fail....

I hate when people share videos like this that cut away before it takes off like wtf.

Synchronization of a helicopter's propellers with the camera's frame rate.

Yeah.. nope.. not getting into one of those. The timing of those blades but just a micro second would be devastating.

HH-43 Huskie

I’m not crazy about the potential for a midair with myself.

Yeah, their lift power is impressive for the size. Even at high elevation. We used them to clear trees in hard to reach areas that were ecologically sensitive at around 11000 ft in elevation.

Amazing. However, I am usually against traveling in transportation that even I, a moron, can determine that should the timing of a certain mechanical function stop working, I would most certainly be diced up into meat salsa. Truly magnificent work of engineering, though.

Works great until it doesn’t

Scary and cool at the same time

I understand the positives of the design, but for me, no matter how many experts told me it is safe, I wouldn't fly in it.

Nothing about a helicopter is safe. The intermeshing rotors is just one of many things that could go catastrophically wrong. They all end the same way.

What advantage does it give the craft? More maneuverability?

how can we make this flying decapitation machine more dangerous?

And what should we do with this useless piece of information

0.01% calibration error and Boom 💥

the KMAX stupidity in a fucking design. what could possibly go wrong here

Are the 2 rotors mechanically coupled?

One hiccup and disaster. That’s too high anxiety for me

Why does this stress me out lol

I won't go within 1 mile of that thing. No thanks!

A great example of, "timing is everything".

The rotors will never do it

@Hadmut Saw and heard(!) one a few years ago working on a railway overhead line overhaul project in Germany. Very low and strange sound. Can "stand" in the air for hours. Looks funny from the front, because its so narrow.

One wrong move .

Is this to eliminate the need for a tail rotor?

My brain does not approve of this technology

What happens if a bird hits one blade?

If one rotor fails, will the second safe the day?

One rotor isn’t unsafe enough, let’s give it the fuselage two of them that rotate around each other in a perfectly timed pattern. What could go wrong?

How anybody ever decided to make a production of that something... it was very big miracle

The K-MAX heavy lift helicopter has amazing lift capability for the horsepower which it creates, round 1300 shaft horsepower. with a lifting capability of 6000 pounds at sea level……🚁🇺🇸

Does that eliminate the flapping impact risk on the coaxial Kamovs?
