Tenant farmer here too.don’t know why they had to put inheritance tax on passing down farm, why couldn’t they just put it on selling farms . Surely, this could actually save more small family farms as it would be more economical to pass down instead of splitting up & selling off

Here you go Starmer, @Keir_Starmer listen to this. Same goes for you Reed. @SteveReedMP You're probably too busy squaring away your next free footy match or music gig. You're throwing away our food security. #NoFarmersNoFood #LabourLiars

I sense Dale Vince may have been an influencing factor in dismantling our farming infrastructure too. Call me cynical but the inheritance tax on farms in the wake of Vince’s calls for schools and hospitals to provide only ‘plant based food’ is too much of a coincidence to ignore.

Well said Matt, hammer on it’s all about producing now, build up the cash reserves Gloves off there not to be trusted,no more entente cordial any more

Well said Matthew we are living under a Marxist regime who are hellbent on fighting some sort of war against business and they will ultimately wreck the economy

As Clarkson says...."shafted". Hang on till this Government is out.

@BigThickSlices I was told this morning that this budget wouldn’t affect tenant farmers. The idea that it wouldn’t made my jaw drop. Monumental stupidity from people who have no capacity to think beyond the next millisecond. Tenant farmers can’t invest when they could be booted in 5 mins.

Matthew I wish you well and all farmers - I hope things change but I doubt it under this lot

Like many tennants…in farming or not…your whole life is in the hands of another

In addition to feeding the nation, farmers also maintain the UK's landscape by hedgetrimming, copsing etc. Each farmer therefore needs to bill the government for a land husbandry fee per acre that offsets inheritance tax charges.
