Smart. I remember someone doing this to me in little league. The pitcher threw me the ball a couple of times, then he threw it to me, I pretended to throw it back to the pitcher, the runner danced off the bag and I tagged him out. Very satisfying.

So dumb and such a waste of time at this age. Granted the coach should have taught his catcher how to handle it, but let's teach kids how to play baseball.

Fair, throw the ball back to the pitcher, as soon as he has it in the circle the runner retreats. Never leave an open base.
