As a former Fire Behaviour Trainer I'm pleased to say that we moved away from the 'burn to learn' philosophy shortly after the dark ages....🔥🤦🚒

Everyone who organised this particular “training” session should be sacked.

Reminds me a bit of doing the ship at moreton,

I think it’s great to be able to show rookies fire behavior and to see how things can naturally transpire. However this training was just dangerous and not a safe environment to learn from.

Saw several brigades across the world doing this kind of training, I've always wondered why it was needed to have the student inside a compartment to experience these fire behaviours. Every time the answers were "it's done under safe and controlled conditions"🤷🏻♂️

Crikey, and there was me super glad that they stopped putting a dab of PAVA on new police recruits. 😬

We do this and I don't think should be a must, but teached me the limits, how the fire develops from inside, teach my mind to think under heat stress and when you can think with clarity and certainty, your works results improve. Never got any real problem doing this in 20 years.

Pointless.

Good to witness and learn from fire behaviour during backdraft but totally unnecessary to have ff’s committed in BA…
In my view this is an irresponsible ‘training’
