Did we hear P. Chidambaram and the Congress lecture the nation on national security and intelligence failure? Let’s rewind to their era… When asked about 26/11 conspirator David Coleman Headley, the man who repeatedly visited India and helped orchestrate the Mumbai attacks, Chidambaram casually said: “He looked white… had an American name… American passport.” And then he almost laughed. Yes, laughed—while talking about India’s worst terror attack. This was the state of national security under UPA. This is how seriously they took terror threats. This is how much of a joke our government used to be. Never forget. Never forgive.

This stupid and incessant fixation on Indian jet losses needs to be put to rest. Few things need to be clear First: Indian military had already confirmed that there were losses in a press conference. But 6 jets is not true. Second: India rectified the “mistake” after the first day. And what was the mistake? It did not target Pakistani air defences the way it could have before going in, because of the rule it imposed on itself that only terror and no military targets will be targeted. But when Pakistan military came out in defence of its terrorist brethren, the rules of engagement changed and Modi set it in stone with the assertion that India will no longer differentiate between the state and the non-state. Military and terror targets in Pakistan are all the same here on out. What Pakistan should see is what happened to it later— HQ-9s, aerial borne radar systems tricked and disabled, 11 airbases including Nur Khan visibly struck and the use of BrahMos, Nuclear command in chaos. Asim Munir in bunker. And Pakistani DGMO ringing India for hours before India’s military actually took their call. That’s the truth.

More Indians, including innocent civilians and tourists, have lost their lives in a series of ruthless terror attacks over the decades, than in wars with our volatile neighbour who has allowed terror networks to grow in our neighbourhood. Pakistan is yet to denounce and renounce the use of terror as an instrument of state policy. It has been bleeding us over the years. But something has changed & that change has come through PM Narendra Modi Ji’s firm and decisive change of doctrine. Enough is Enough. Under PM Modi Ji, the New India knows how to give it back. Tough punitive actions announced against Pakistan in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, including putting in abeyance the Indus Waters Treaty, closing the integrated check post at the Attari border and cutting down the overall strength of the high commissions is just a beginning.
