Three cyclists. One red light. Three different ways of dealing with it. Your thoughts welcome on who's wrong and who's right.

So is a driver doing anything wrong if there’s no one else around and he goes through a red light??? I think you know the answer Jeremy.

If the 2 cyclists crossed the solid white line when the light was red, then they broke the law and were wrong. Red lights give pedestrians a safe time to cross. Any cyclists running red lights deny this opportunity to pedestrians & may put some people off walking

Red light means stop 🛑 , No one else around , ? It’s a red light , ! Would it be the same if a 44 , 000 kilo lorry just drove through on a red light , ?

Going through a Red light is against the law and if you did it in a car “with no one around” you will still get fined by all the thousands of cameras that are located in the city! No one except emergency vehicles should go though a red light.

I'd say you were in the best position. I don't think cyclists should be running red lights, period. No matter who is or isn't looking.

Jeremy, as you said you are following the law (this time) Why is this even a question? You would be raging if drivers started picking and chosing which laws they followed so why expect different for cyclists?

I think your option is the best bet as it’s the only one not adding ammunition to those that hate cyclists. Having said that the other two were apparently proceeding cautiously and being observant and didn’t put anyone else at risk.

Forward of the line, you are much more visible to drivers. Especially if they decide to turn from the wrong lane.

I'm a cyclist and I think numbers one and two are wrong. The laws on this are clear and as soon as you start introducing a grey area then you open a big can of worms. You save 30 seconds by not waiting and give all other cyclists a bad name.
