What a performance from Teófimo Lopez. 👏🥊 But what on earth were the judges watching tonight? 114–114?! Romero had his moments, particularly around the fourth and fifth, but there is a difference between landing the occasional eye-catching shot and actually winning rounds. Lopez dictated the fight for long spells, worked the body, landed the cleaner combinations and simply did far more of the meaningful work. One judge somehow saw a draw. Another had it only 115–113. For context, MMA Fighting scored it 118–110 Lopez — which felt considerably closer to the fight I was watching. And after the controversy earlier on the undercard, it wasn't exactly a glorious evening for the people holding the scorecards either. Great night for Lopez.
