Three years ago, Eastern Kentucky suffered from the most devastating floods we've seen. We lost 45 of our fellow Kentuckians, along with homes, businesses and so much more. But today we show that triumph over tragedy is possible as we continue to rebuild stronger than ever. 1/2

One year ago today, the Eaton and Palisades Fires ignited what became the most devastating natural disaster in Los Angeles history. Thousands of families were forced from their homes. Neighborhoods and livelihoods were leveled. Dozens of lives were lost. A year later, the determination of our communities to remember those we lost, support neighbors working to rebuild, and ensure we are better prepared for future threats remains unwavering.

As part of a delegation of MP’s from Kerala, I met Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah today. We carried a petition for immediate relief to be provided to the people of Wayanad who are still struggling to overcome the devastating tragedy that occurred four months ago. We explained to him that due to the extreme nature of the tragedy, those affected by it have lost their livelihoods, their homes, schools, friends, and in many cases their entire families. Their entire support system has crumbled. Under the circumstances they are looking with great hope towards the Central Government to help them rebuild their shattered lives. We urged the Home Minister to release funds urgently to support rehabilitation efforts so that the victims of this tragedy can begin to rebuild their lives with dignity.
