The old Delhi-Meerut Highway criss-crossed by Delhi-Meerut expressway and the Rapid Rail Transit system (RRTS) on the top. Credit where due. The expressway followed by RRTS has reduced the Meerut-Delhi travel time by a significant amount. Hope to see such commuting infra in more Indian cities.

The purpose is to make the system more simple and efficient and yes, to some extent lower the cost of doing this. But the idea is that if you make the system more efficient, then the system will grow more fast and then you will benefit from buoyancy of the system as such.
