Coal mining in India began nearly 252 years ago, around 1774, with the first coal mine at Raniganj in West Bengal. Before 2014, the news headlines around coal were often associated with uncertainty and negativity. Today, the sector is moving forward with confidence, reforms, innovation, and a renewed vision.
