Inside the room, speakers glorified suicide bombers, hijackers, and Hamas terrorists. Today, we welcomed home more than 60 Maine veterans in Bangor as they returned from a trip to Washington, D.C., organized by Honor Flight Maine. These veterans visited the memorials built in our nation’s capital to pay tribute to their service. It was deeply moving to join their families and friends in showing them the gratitude and respect they have earned, and to remind them that their sacrifices will never be forgotten.

On June 3, 2026, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Organized Retail Crime Task Force partnered with Target as part of a National Organized Retail Theft Blitz focused on identifying and apprehending repeat offenders and retail thieves. The operation resulted in seven arrests, including two felony arrests under Proposition 36, three additional felony drug-related charges, and two warrant arrests involving a total of five outstanding warrants. Deputies also issued ten trespass notices and cited several additional individuals. Organized retail theft continues to impact businesses, employees, and consumers throughout our community. Videos of masked ICE agents unlawfully detaining a US citizen and resident of Asbury Park were recorded on the morning of Wednesday, April 15 at the corner of Main Street and Bangs Avenue. As seen in the videos, federal agents ignored our constituent’s repeated attempts to identify herself as a US citizen and forced her to be separated from her young children who were watching nearby from their family vehicle. After being detained for 8 hours, she was subsequently released from Delaney Hall in Newark without charges and left with noticeable bruising from being physically handled by ICE agents. ICE's actions of separating families and targeting US citizens continues to be horrific and unacceptable. We have been in contact with the family to offer our support and to connect them with resources. We have also reached out to the Monmouth County Prosecutor and to the New Jersey Attorney General to ask for their assistance in protecting our residents.

Watch how quickly our Crime Center works when crime occurs. While proactively surveilling downtown Orlando, Crime Center detectives observed a fight at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Central Boulevard. The Crime Center quickly alerted officers to the incident, providing suspect descriptions and tracking their direction of travel as they fled. Officers were able to locate and apprehend the suspects within minutes of the incident. Ahmed Hansford (DOB: 08/26/1994) was arrested and charged with Battery. Ashley Weeksbury (DOB: 06/08/1995) was arrested charged with Robbery. We applaud the collaboration and quick actions of both the Crime Center and officers in their ongoing efforts to keep our community and downtown Orlando safe.

Before heading to Kumi district to meet the leaders of the Teso sub-region, I commissioned the Zonal Presidential Skilling Hub in Arapai, Soroti City. We started this free skills training to highlight our interest in free education for all. We have started at the zonal levels, and with more progress, we can expand to districts. The ultimate aim of this project is to kickstart youth into the money economy. I am glad that Mrs. Jane Barekye and her group have started district saccos to support these young people in capitalizing on their ideas.
