Josh Brolin recalls a tense moment on the set of American Gangster when he thought he might have to “fight Denzel Washington.” “You know, Denzel was a hero of mine. Denzel and I did American Gangster together, and Denzel wouldn’t look at me. I did this scene with Denzel, and he had reworked the scene. He didn’t change any lines, he just reworked the scene. ‘Lines here, you say your line - You hold that line until the end - I said, ‘Okay.’ And then, as we're going through the scenes…Denzel Washington man, my hero….and I forgot a line. My nephews friend would visit the house and after a while turned it into his vacation home. Helping himself to anything and everything he could get his hands on. What was even weirder was his dad would drop him off like we were a personal babysitter and he once even asked me to borrow gas money. That dude still owes me $20, which I will never see. But let me know, was he taking advantage of us or was I reading way too much into it.

Howard Hawks on his meeting with Al Capone & what Capone and another famous Chicago gangster thought about 'Scarface' (1932) when they saw the film: "Interviewer: Did you have any contact with Al Capone while making the picture? Hawks: While we were making 'Scarface' (1932), five or six of them came out and said, “The boss wants us to see the picture.” And I said, “You go and tell him when it comes out, he can pay a dollar and buy a ticket. You don’t scare me. Why the hell don’t you come out and just ask to see it?” They reported to Capone that it was just great, and they invited me to Chicago to see him. They met me at the train, and they were late. One of the fellows said, “There was a killing last night and we had to go to the funeral.” I said, “Do I have to ride with you if there was a killing last night?” They said I could ride in a different car. But when we went into a café, they would sit with their backs to the wall, and I had my back to the door. We had some damn good-looking girls with us, a bit brassy but very pretty. When I saw Capone, we had tea, and he was dressed in a morning coat, striped trousers, a carnation, being a very nice man, saying how much he liked the picture. I was with him two, three hours. This man picked me from Lifecamp to Kuje without negotiating. The app already charged me 12,900 but insisted on 15k and when I refused and asked him to end the trip and drop me he started cooking up stories about being debited of the full amount when we hadn't even left Lifecamp when this drama started... he started pressuring me and causing a scene saying I should pay part of the money bolt debited from his account... Bolt abeg I'm tired of all the drama that comes with the drivers that work with you. I'm sure other people have had similar experiences. Y'all need to tackle these issues Bolt

"A Lesson in Strength from Yobra" Today, I’ve relearned that everyone has their battles, and the difference lies in how they choose to handle them. I first met Yobra on September 25th last year. We laughed about how we share the same name. "Ma Yobra!" he said, and we shared a good laugh. I noticed he was carrying his child in front of the bike, the little one holding on so tightly. At the time, I didn’t think much of it. Later, he told me to post a clip—a compilation of greetings I get on the road. I did, but it drew some negativity, with online "road experts" criticizing how he carried his child. Fast forward five months to today, and I met him again. I made the same joke about our names, and he smiled before introducing me to his child. Casually, he mentioned that his child is blind. He didn’t dwell on it—he just went on with his story. What struck me was how matter-of-fact he was about it. He explained that he was taking his child to a special school before heading back to work. The way he carries his challenges, with strength and grace, left me in awe. "Brayo, if you see this post, know that you’ve taught me something invaluable today: how to be strong in the face of life’s trials. God bless you, Ma Yobra."

#SEONGHWA about meeting DPRIAN 😭🩶 ⭐️: Yesterday, I finally had time in my schedule.. actually, more than my schedule permitting it, hyungnim had time in his and he also happened to be in LA, so I went to see him. He said he wanted to show me around his studio and somehow everything just lined up… so I became a successful fan! Yesterday was actually the first time I got to meet him and he greeted me really warmly ㅎㅎ When I arrived to the practice room he was blowing bubbles, like this, to welcome me. So it was very ㅎㅎ very fun and heartwarming. He gave me a tour of the studio and ordered pizza for us to share. While we were eating, I asked him a lot of questions about things I was curious about, like music video behind stories and details about songs of his I love. You know the way we interpret a song differs depending on the listener, but I wanted to hear directly from him what kind of feeling he had when creating those songs. I wanted to hear the real stories from the person who made them, so I asked a lot of those kinds of questions. And it was really fascinating because what I had in mind was actually very similar to what hyungnim had intended. So that was very fascinating. He also told me so many kind and encouraging things… it really motivated me a lot, especially in what I’m doing now. So, ever since I came to the U.S. I was hoping I could meet him and get his autograph. I went all over the place trying to find a CD… but wow, everything was sold out! So eventually I was like, “Ah, it can’t be helped, I’ll just go without one.” I really like keeping physical albums from artists. For books too, e-books are great too, but there’s something special about being able to touch and feel a real book or album, you know? But then, just as we were saying goodbye, hyungnim said he had something for me and handed me the album himself. And then he said that he had left the message section empty on purpose because he was like “I wanted to write something after actually meeting you Seonghwa-ssi and seeing how I felt”. So just before I left, he wrote it down and the words were so beautiful. That really stayed with me. I too, when meeting others, used to write the messages in advance and bring them along, but now I feel like… if I ever get the chance again, I’d also like to write something based on my impression after the meeting and give it to them. There’s something really romantic about that. Also, watching him work (know about his artistic process) up close.. wow, it was just… really, really cool. So yeah I had such a happy, unforgettable time. He said he watched a lot of our performances too, and when he talked about the ones he’s seen, it made me so happy. On stage, he come across as super sexy, right? But when he was speaking, he was so humble and just kind… he just genuinely felt like a hyung. He was incredibly sweet and.. ah, am I like that too? ㅎㅎ I really had a good time. What stage he liked best? He said he’s seen my solo stage. I’m not sure if it was from Towards The Light or this current one (Skin), but he said it was really great to see how deeply I immersed myself in the concept. He also mentioned watching our Coachella stage, and he really enjoyed the sword-drawing part too. He shared a lot of really kind and encouraging words. To be honest, I had worried that my visit might feel like a burden or a hassle for him, but it was the opposite. He was so warm and welcoming, and apparently he was actually really curious about me too and really wanted to talk to me. So it ended up being a truly wonderful day. I came back full of inspiration. Of course, our biggest motivation is always ATINY but this became a new kind of motivation for me, a new inspiration.

I remember those days i would just be upstairs, sometimes for a week. I don't go down. Mum or my sisters or Aunts bring my food upstairs. Sometimes I hear a visitor ask my Dad about me and he tells the person he hasn't seen me for a week and depending on the family relationship, he directs the person to my room. One time, I needed to understand why my Dad and my Mum were always sick and worried when ever I was driving home late. They prefer I sleep or lodge wherever I am then drive at night to my own house (comfort zone). I was driving to visit them one time and I got home past 12 mid9th. I saw my Dad sitting outside waiting for me. This man doesn't joke with his sleep, i asked him why he was still up, and he said he just came out to enjoy fresh air. The next day, my mum told me how my Dad was worried and scared, and I was like at this my age? She said “Your Dad even called Yusuf (Albati barracks) putting them on Standby to go search for you if you were not home by 1 am. I was laughing out so LOUD!... When my Dad came back from work, i was about to leave, i jokingly asked him why he was worrying himself and he said “Person when no get pikin no know wetin God do for am. When you give birth to yours, you will understand”.

This morning I drove into ABC place Waiyaki way as I needed to do some shopping, as I got out of the car I heard someone shout “Baba, Baba” I turned around and a young man straight away came and hugged me. He looked and me said Baba do you remember me, it took me at least two mins but I realised who he was. This goes back some 20 or more years ago when I was a frequent customer or should I say furniture at a place called Tropicana or Gypsy’s in Westlands this boy was a teenager and together with his very very young two siblings would be there selling njugu or asking for handouts. I recall asking him why would they be doing this late past midnight and he said so they could help their mother and also try get money for fees. I did not realise what I did then, but I began helping him with frees for many years and these boys would take care of my car and even of me when I would walk out very late in the night. They had became a part of that area and the security of Gypsy would even allow them to do this extra work as I would tell them these boys aren’t the usual chokoras who will steal. They would watch over customers cars and I would support them. As time passed I grew out of that life and moved on and we never met again, even the place closed down but my nickname as most of my closest childhood friends, the waiters and everyone who I associated with still remained BABA and to date they call me BABA, and why? because I “USED” to be a die hard Raila Odinga supporter 😂😂😂. The boy told me he looked for me for a long time as he always wanted to thank me and finally we met today as he was getting to work , he told me he sent his family back to Kisumu where he helped his little brothers to complete their education and believe it or not today he is a head chef at the Seven Grill & Lounge ABC place. Good people see how hard work, honesty and focus pays. This is my boy Victor and today I am an extremely proud man.

A Yapper's Retelling of Her Crazy Taxi Interviews 🐰 🐰: Taxi drivers tend to talk a lot, right? They ask a lot of questions. So this happened the day before I left for Milan. I got into a taxi, and the driver kept talking to me. Like I mentioned earlier, I’m comfortable with everyday Korean in such situations, but outside of that, I often don’t understand. It was the same in this situation too, while I was in the taxi. The driver kept talking to me, and I think he realized something was off. "You’re not Korean, are you? You’re not Korean, right?" I said, "Yes, I’m a foreigner." He then asked, "Where are you from?" So I said, "I’m from Australia and Vietnam. Who's Australian and who's Vietnamese, your mom or dad?" I explained, "They’re both Vietnamese, but I was just born and raised in Australia, so I’m Australian-Vietnamese." Then he asked, "Why? Why? Why is your Korean so good?" So I told him, "I studied for about four years, so I can manage to speak this much, but it’s not that good. Only I think I’m good." We continued to small talk, and suddenly he asked, "But why did you come to Korea?" 🐰: That’s when I got caught. You see, whenever I take taxis, I always sort of create a situation. Well, not exactly create a situation, but I pretend to be a student. Because they always ask, and since I’m not Korean, naturally they get curious about why I’m in Korea. So I pretend to be a student. I was laughing to myself while riding. But the driver kept calling me "sister." He said, "Why did our sister come to Korea?" I said, "Oh, I came to study." Then he asked, "How old are you?" I said, "I’m 19." It felt like an interview. Most of the time, once they figure out I’m a foreigner, the interview begins. So I said, "I’m 19." He confirmed, "So, you were born in 2004, right?" I replied, "Yes, I was born in 2004." Then he asked, "Which university do you attend?" 🐰: At that moment, when he asked me which university I attend, my mind quickly flashed back to the universities I remembered visiting during our How Sweet tour. Honestly, I only know the universities we visited for those festivals. So I tried to think of a university quickly and the first one that came to mind was Chosun University. "Seoul?" I said I went to Chosun University, and while the driver was driving, he thought for a moment and said, "Hmm, but Chosun University isn’t in Seoul, is it?" That’s when I realized I’d messed up, recalling a university that isn’t in Seoul. I panicked a bit, so I said, "Yeah, it’s not in Seoul." Then he asked, "How do you attend it?" I said, "Well, I just go back and forth. Sometimes I go to Chosun University, and sometimes I go to Seoul National University too." Which, of course, was total nonsense. The driver was surprised, "Is that possible?" I just replied, "Yes, it’s possible." So while driving, he kept asking, "What do you do? What do you do?" Then he asked, "Where did you graduate from, high school?" At that moment, I thought, "Oh no, I’m in trouble again." During my trainee days, I often found myself in similar situations with taxi drivers. Back then, I used to say I attended Hanlim Multi Art School, even though I didn’t. I’ve never been to Hanlim Multi Art School. So I’m really sorry to the teachers at Hanlim. I would tell taxi drivers, "I graduated from Hanlim Multi Art School" It’s totally untrue. I must have said I graduated from there more than 10 times. It was just a little white lie. I’ll have to apologize in person someday. When he asked me what high school I graduated from, I said Hanlim Multi Art School, but then I panicked because it’s not true. 🐰: Then he asked, "What did you come to Korea to study?" The questions just kept coming! So I said, "I sing." Then the driver started talking about trot singers. But I don’t really know much about trot. So he kept talking about it, mentioning how young people are so good at trot these days. "Does our sister sing trot?" he asked, looking at me through the rearview mirror. I said, "No, I don’t sing trot." He then named a bunch of young trot singers, but I couldn’t remember any of their names. At that point, I was just trying to survive the next 40 minutes, thinking about how I’d make it through. I just kept nodding along, agreeing with him, "Yes, they’re really good." I even said, "I think it’s amazing how young people sing trot so well." The driver then asked, "Are you with a company like YG or something?" I answered something like, "Yeah, something like that," and he said, "Ah, I see. You must sing really well. I’m driving a future star!" I told him, "No, I’m just working hard." 🐰: He then asked, "How do you live? Do you live alone?" I said, "No, I live in a dorm." He asked, "Who do you live with? Other Vietnamese people?" I said, "No, I live with other foreign friends. It’s fun, really fun." He replied, "Ah, that’s good. Does our sister eat well?" I said, "Yes, I eat well. They take good care of me." And that’s how the conversation went. He asked more questions than any taxi driver ever had before. But he was very kind. At one point, we were stopped at a red light, and I heard a rustling sound from the front seat. He suddenly handed me something from the front seat—it was a grape candy. He said, "Here, sister, have one." I thanked him and ate it, and that’s how our conversation started. 🐰: When we arrived, I had two suitcases, one heavy and one light. He pulled out the heavy one first, and I got out to help. I thanked him, saying, "That must’ve been heavy." When I grabbed the lighter one, he joked, "What’s this? Why is one so heavy and the other so light?" I told him, "I packed kind of weird." He was so nice. He waved as I left, and I thought he was really cute. 🐰: But that conversation—it was one of those crazy taxi interviews. Why did I say I went to Chosun University? I should’ve said a school in Seoul. Anyway, that’s what happened. I think I survived it pretty well. It was the most intense taxi interview ever. I’ve been in similar situations before, but this one was different because now I’m university-aged. Before, I was just a middle or high school student. I used to just tell people I went to Hanlim Multi Art School, and that ended things smoothly. I’d say I’m a student from Hanlim and that I’m here to study singing. But this time, I’m 19, born in 2004, so I should be in university. It was hilarious. 🐰: After I got home, I told my sister, and she burst out laughing. She said, "You’re so funny!" I wish I had recorded it because it was so funny. The driver kept calling me "sister," which confused me at first. I thought it was just a term of endearment or something, but it turned out he was really calling me "sister." He even asked, "Does our sister eat well?" I haven’t told my group members about this yet because I haven’t seen them; they’re still on vacation. But it was such a funny situation. A Yapper's Retelling of Her Crazy Taxi Interviews 🐰 🐰: Taxi drivers tend to talk a lot, right? They ask a lot of questions. So this happened the day before I left for Milan. I got into a taxi, and the driver kept talking to me. Like I mentioned earlier, I’m comfortable with everyday Korean in such situations, but outside of that, I often don’t understand. It was the same in this situation too, while I was in the taxi. The driver kept talking to me, and I think he realized something was off. "You’re not Korean, are you? You’re not Korean, right?" I said, "Yes, I’m a foreigner." He then asked, "Where are you from?" So I said, "I’m from Australia and Vietnam. Who's Australian and who's Vietnamese, your mom or dad?" I explained, "They’re both Vietnamese, but I was just born and raised in Australia, so I’m Australian-Vietnamese." Then he asked, "Why? Why? Why is your Korean so good?" So I told him, "I studied for about four years, so I can manage to speak this much, but it’s not that good. Only I think I’m good." We continued to small talk, and suddenly he asked, "But why did you come to Korea?" 🐰: That’s when I got caught. You see, whenever I take taxis, I always sort of create a situation. Well, not exactly create a situation, but I pretend to be a student. Because they always ask, and since I’m not Korean, naturally they get curious about why I’m in Korea. So I pretend to be a student. I was laughing to myself while riding. But the driver kept calling me "sister." He said, "Why did our sister come to Korea?" I said, "Oh, I came to study." Then he asked, "How old are you?" I said, "I’m 19." It felt like an interview. Most of the time, once they figure out I’m a foreigner, the interview begins. So I said, "I’m 19." He confirmed, "So, you were born in 2004, right?" I replied, "Yes, I was born in 2004." Then he asked, "Which university do you attend?" 🐰: At that moment, when he asked me which university I attend, my mind quickly flashed back to the universities I remembered visiting during our How Sweet tour. Honestly, I only know the universities we visited for those festivals. So I tried to think of a university quickly and the first one that came to mind was Chosun University. "Seoul?" I said I went to Chosun University, and while the driver was driving, he thought for a moment and said, "Hmm, but Chosun University isn’t in Seoul, is it?" That’s when I realized I’d messed up, recalling a university that isn’t in Seoul. I panicked a bit, so I said, "Yeah, it’s not in Seoul." Then he asked, "How do you attend it?" I said, "Well, I just go back and forth. Sometimes I go to Chosun University, and sometimes I go to Seoul National University too." Which, of course, was total nonsense. The driver was surprised, "Is that possible?" I just replied, "Yes, it’s possible." So while driving, he kept asking, "What do you do? What do you do?" Then he asked, "Where did you graduate from, high school?" At that moment, I thought, "Oh no, I’m in trouble again." During my trainee days, I often found myself in similar situations with taxi drivers. Back then, I used to say I attended Hanlim Multi Art School, even though I didn’t. I’ve never been to Hanlim Multi Art School. So I’m really sorry to the teachers at Hanlim. I would tell taxi drivers, "I graduated from Hanlim Multi Art School" It’s totally untrue. I must have said I graduated from there more than 10 times. It was just a little white lie. I’ll have to apologize in person someday. When he asked me what high school I graduated from, I said Hanlim Multi Art School, but then I panicked because it’s not true. 🐰: Then he asked, "What did you come to Korea to study?" The questions just kept coming! So I said, "I sing." Then the driver started talking about trot singers. But I don’t really know much about trot. So he kept talking about it, mentioning how young people are so good at trot these days. "Does our sister sing trot?" he asked, looking at me through the rearview mirror. I said, "No, I don’t sing trot." He then named a bunch of young trot singers, but I couldn’t remember any of their names. At that point, I was just trying to survive the next 40 minutes, thinking about how I’d make it through. I just kept nodding along, agreeing with him, "Yes, they’re really good." I even said, "I think it’s amazing how young people sing trot so well." The driver then asked, "Are you with a company like YG or something?" I answered something like, "Yeah, something like that," and he said, "Ah, I see. You must sing really well. I’m driving a future star!" I told him, "No, I’m just working hard." 🐰: He then asked, "How do you live? Do you live alone?" I said, "No, I live in a dorm." He asked, "Who do you live with? Other Vietnamese people?" I said, "No, I live with other foreign friends. It’s fun, really fun." He replied, "Ah, that’s good. Does our sister eat well?" I said, "Yes, I eat well. They take good care of me." And that’s how the conversation went. He asked more questions than any taxi driver ever had before. But he was very kind. At one point, we were stopped at a red light, and I heard a rustling sound from the front seat. He suddenly handed me something from the front seat—it was a grape candy. He said, "Here, sister, have one." I thanked him and ate it, and that’s how our conversation started. 🐰: When we arrived, I had two suitcases, one heavy and one light. He pulled out the heavy one first, and I got out to help. I thanked him, saying, "That must’ve been heavy." When I grabbed the lighter one, he joked, "What’s this? Why is one so heavy and the other so light?" I told him, "I packed kind of weird." He was so nice. He waved as I left, and I thought he was really cute. 🐰: But that conversation—it was one of those crazy taxi interviews. Why did I say I went to Chosun University? I should’ve said a school in Seoul. Anyway, that’s what happened. I think I survived it pretty well. It was the most intense taxi interview ever. I’ve been in similar situations before, but this one was different because now I’m university-aged. Before, I was just a middle or high school student. I used to just tell people I went to Hanlim Multi Art School, and that ended things smoothly. I’d say I’m a student from Hanlim and that I’m here to study singing. But this time, I’m 19, born in 2004, so I should be in university. It was hilarious. 🐰: After I got home, I told my sister, and she burst out laughing. She said, "You’re so funny!" I wish I had recorded it because it was so funny. The driver kept calling me "sister," which confused me at first. I thought it was just a term of endearment or something, but it turned out he was really calling me "sister." He even asked, "Does our sister eat well?" I haven’t told my group members about this yet because I haven’t seen them; they’re still on vacation. But it was such a funny situation.
