I serve as a print reporter with the White House travel pool, which means that my office is on Air Force One. Last Tuesday, while I was in that office, I stayed for four hours acting as a body double for a Boeing 747 and wrote a 600-word account of the event, dating it 'aboard Air Force One', the most desirable byline in American journalism, and on that particular journey, the piece was entirely fictional. After the NATO summit we boarded in Ankara, as is usual. There is a clear hierarchy when it comes to the seats. The AP is given the better one, the wires receive the ones after that, and I ended up with the seat next to the galley, something which I minded for the first 40 minutes of my life as a decoy, until I realised that the galley was empty and that its emptiness was going to become the one most interesting fact of my career. We were asked by the crew to draw the window blinds down for the takeoff, and they described it as a simple task. So we did it. A reporter is professionally unable to turn down a polite request from a man in uniform while at the same time thinking that he is speaking to those in power. I prepared the summary of the summit before we reached our cruising altitude. The President arrives at 11:04 with a cheerful mood, though I created that mood. You always have to invent the mood. That is the only creative freedom the pool allows us, and it was the first time I had entirely made up the President's mood. He wasn't on the plane. As we were finding our seats and discussing quietly about the armrest, the president had gone into an airport catering truck, driven it down to the tarmac just as if it were a very important room-service request, and got on to a smaller jet, a C-32A, taking him silently to Britain. Our 747 took off behind him as a decoy. Since there was a serious threat from Iran regarding the president's aircraft, the government kindly supplied one. It was fully fueled, fully staffed and fully press-pooled. I was inside it, pointing it at the sky like a duck at a shooting gallery, keeping track of my word count. It was a superb move. Having covered this administration for three years, I can say that the catering-truck exfiltration is the most skilled operation I have ever seen it carry out. It was flawless, straight out of a film, with not a single leak apart from the one you are now reading, and I only made that leak because I was the one who had the leftovers. The point that I can't accept is that the president got onto the catering truck. That therefore means the catering went with the president. We were flown for four hours as a live missile target with only ice and one lemon left in the galley, since our snacks had already been dropped in Ankara and had gone to Britain by first class before we did. The most important decoy in the Western alliance, and I was unable to get a second bag of pretzels because the pretzels ranked above me. The pretzels had somewhere else to be. I would like to make a formal complaint regarding the pretzels. I know that this is not the proper kind of complaint; the appropriate complaint is that I was used as bait. However, you can't take a photograph of bait, but you can take a photograph of an empty snack basket, and so a reporter goes with the picture he has. The term 'decoy' wasn't mentioned, since it wasn't necessary. An empty plane doesn't deceive anybody; but a plane carrying reporters who are giving real-time accounts of the president's fine mood can fool a satellite. We didn't cover the president that afternoon. We played a trick on him—off-Broadway, at 40,000 feet—before an audience of a single Iranian targeting officer, whom I imagine watched our transponder with great satisfaction, prepared and sent up his own confident report along his own chain of command, and who is now being asked this morning by his own editor why the target held a press conference in Britain. We refer to it as seat access. Access should imply that I am close enough to be able to see him. For four hours it meant that I was close enough to be mistaken for him by a warhead, a level of access which the AP has never achieved and which I intend entirely to improve in my performance review. I haven't altered the dateline because my desk prevents me from doing so. The value of the aircraft known as Air Force One exceeds that of my house, and I earned it on the one flight during which the only real words in the whole document were the timestamp and the spelling of my name. He safely arrived in Britain. We safely reached the story. The Iranians, I suppose, are going over the tape and are pretending that they intended to. The pool rotates Thursday. I have already asked for the seat back. It is still the best seat in American journalism. From it you can see absolutely everything the plane has been cleared to show you, and, if the timing is right, the snacks.

Who’s running the country? We in Michigan would really like to know. Because we’re dying out here. I saw an African family on the corner of Eight Mile Road and Van Dyke selling used shoes from plastic bags and clothes from roller bags. The Warren cops ran them off and they crossed over 8 Mile to Detroit. A white junky on a bicycle took a pair of boots the family left behind. The VFW hall was torn down after it was purchased by the UAW, who built a union hall in its place. I like the old VFW HALL. It had Merle Haggard and Snoop Dog in the jukebox. Not a soul was at the new UAW hall the Thursday before Labor Day, despite the fact that 2,500 auto workers at the Ram plant will be out on their asses next month. Add that to the 700 software designers up at the GM Tech Center who were shown the door yesterday. White collar, blue-collar, pretty soon… No collar. Warren’s screwed. The Alibi bar near the plant was doing a brisk business at two o'clock in the afternoon. It won't be like that come Thanksgiving. An autoworker told me his teeth were bad cause he’d rather put his copays towards his kids medical deductible. His mouth looked like a ruined fence. The latest contract was good. But not that good. It’s not preventing layoffs, even after we’ve given the company billions. There’s old cinder block housing built for the southern war time workers. People are still living in them. The row houses look remarkably similar to the sharecroppers shacks from whence there people came. But these people aren’t leaving. Can’t. To where? By what means? The trailer park that the rapper Eminem allegedly grew up in is on 8 Mile Road on the other side of the plant. He didn’t. It’s a fairy tale. What’s real is that even though the park is condemned a few pale ghosts live among the blown out windows and open sewer pipes. Along Eight Mile someone tried to outrun a cop, hit a curb and sheared a tire and linkage off. The car landed on its remaining three tires and the driver was immediately arrested. I should expect the driver to be released in no time. No room at the inn. The wheels are literally falling off. That’s the truth in America, east of Broadway. What acknowledgement do they get from the political class? Now that they want something, now that it’s clear what they’ve done to you, they pretend to be you. Because that’s the mood of the country. Apparently Kamala Harris worked at McDonald's somewhere in Mississippi judging by the accent. JD Vance is from Appalachia, which is apparently a suburb of Cincinnati . And apparently Gretchen Whitmer the poor little rich girl is from Eight Mile. Stop with the bullshit. The expert class is desperate. They’re devoid of answers in the time of populism. We don't need you to be like us. We need you to do right by us. So why won't you? Subscribe to NBN on YouTube: Subscribe to NBN on iTunes: Subscribe to NBN on Spotify:

“Hundreds of members of the state LNP, including Mr Littleproud and fellow federal Nationals Matt Canavan, Llew O'Brien and Colin Boyce, overwhelmingly voted for the Coalition to abandon a commitment to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. While the grassroots vote is not binding on the parliamentary party, Mr Littleproud acknowledged there was "definitely a mood in our partyroom" to abandon the emissions policies. David Crisafulli's state government is still committed to reducing carbon emissions to reach net zero by 2050, and the Queensland Premier did not vote on Friday's resolution.” Along with “Victoria's historic treaty is promising to "reckon with the past" and empower the state's First Peoples — and explicitly declares it will not take anything away from the broader community. The assembly, which was set up in 2019 to elect Aboriginal people to negotiate a treaty on their behalf, will have the power to make rules on matters that directly affect First Peoples in Victoria. "Treaty is built on a simple principle: First Peoples decide First Peoples' issues. This doesn't take anything away from anyone else,'' the treaty says.” Results in this. “Sussan Ley's Coalition has slumped to its worst primary vote in Newspoll history in the wake of Jacinta Nampijinpa Price's sacking and ugly internal brawling, delivering Anthony Albanese his biggest two-party-preferred vote lead since becoming Prime Minister. A Newspoll conducted between Monday and Thursday last week shows the Coalition's primary vote crashing to an all-time low of 27 per cent, which has lifted Labor's two-party-preferred buffer to a dominant 58 per cent to 42 per cent.” ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• The primary vote for the Coalition is at all time lows. Unfortunately not all coalition voters are switching to minor parties. Some are switching to Labor or the Teals. If we want to beat Labor, then it’s vital that political parties start listening to their members. A few weeks ago the LNP had their annual convention and for the first time in years grassroot members were actually allowed to debate and vote on net zero. Needless to say the members voted net zero down. But here’s the thing - what the grass root members decide isn’t binding on the parliamentary members. David Crisafulli stated afterwards that his government is still committed to net zero. The Federal party will soon recommit to net zero to please their mates at the big end of town. Which begs the question, what’s the point of a political party having members if their elected representatives don’t listen to them. It’s no wonder support for the LNP is declining. Party leaders are not listening to their members. In many ways this is by design as the two major parties have changed the electoral funding laws so they are funded by taxpayers instead of members. This has made democracy inside the major parties redundant. The only way this process can change is to build a strong grassroots political movement that can gut the Liberal and Labor party of their members. That’s why People First is building branches. We will ensure policies and candidates are decided upon by our members and binding on anyone that is elected into Parliament. It’s the only way to give power back to the people and ensure politicians are held to account. If you want to take back Australia then sign up today at

Israel Apologists Lie About Their Feelings And Beliefs, And Other Notes One of the most frustrating things about Israel apologists is how they constantly pretend to believe things they don’t really believe in order to push Israeli PR. There’s a tweet going around by a rabbi named Elchanan Poupko that says “I had never met a Zionist who does not care also for the lives of innocent Palestinians. I have never met an anti-zionist who does care for the lives of israelis. That is the difference between us.” This person does not believe his own claim. He is knowingly lying about what he thinks is true about Zionists. A Penn State survey published in Israeli media last year found that 82 percent of Jewish Israelis support the forced expulsion of all Palestinians from Gaza. Nearly half, 47 percent, said the IDF should kill all inhabitants of any city they capture — that’s inhabitants, not combatants. Rabbi Poupko may not be aware of this specific poll, but he does interact with Zionists on a regular basis. He personally knows Zionists who would tell him to his face that his claim is false, and he is fully aware of this. He is knowingly lying in order to promote the information interests of a genocidal apartheid state. They do this all the time, with everything. They’ll falsely claim pro-Palestine protests make them feel unsafe just to get laws passed to shut down the demonstrations. They’ll pretend to believe that phrases like “from the river to the sea” and “globalize the intifada” are hateful slogans which encourage antisemitic attacks. They’ll regurgitate ridiculous hasbara slogans like “human shields” and “world’s most moral army” which they know for a fact are false. They just make whatever noises they need to make to keep the western weapons shipments heading to Tel Aviv. And, I mean, of course they do. They’re bad people. They’d support a genocide, so there’s not a lot they wouldn’t do. Of course they’ll lie and manipulate to advance the agendas of their favorite ethnonationalist war machine. Israel supporters are awful. ❖ A Jesus statue vandalized by Israeli soldiers has been treated with more solemnity and contrition than any IDF massacre of real human beings over the past three years. Top Israeli officials like Benjamin Netanyahu and Gideon Saar have posted statements condemning the incident, and the Israeli military has issued an apology and sentenced two men to thirty days in jail over the incident. This is happening because Israel knows its American support base of Christian conservatives will care more about the statue than all of the IDF’s attacks on Palestinian, Lebanese and Iranian human beings combined since 2023. Middle easterners are so dehumanized in their eyes that they are viewed as less valuable than a Jesus-shaped piece of fiberglass. Israel will let its soldiers commit every humanitarian abuse in the book, but jeopardizing the support base that keeps the weapons flowing? That’s a no-no. ❖ On Monday, President Trump said on social media that “Israel never talked me into the war with Iran.” On Tuesday, the State Department issued a press release which included the words “the United States is engaged in this conflict at the request of and in the collective self-defense of its Israeli ally.” So I guess the official answer to the question of whether the US went to war with Iran at Israel’s request depends on the mood of the day and which administration figure happens to be speaking at the moment. ❖ Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said during a security assessment on Thursday that Israel is “awaiting a green light from the United States, first and foremost to complete the elimination of the Khamenei dynasty, the initiator of the extermination plan against Israel, and the successors of the successors of the leadership of the Iranian terror regime, and in addition to return Iran to the age of darkness and stone by blowing up central energy and electricity facilities and crushing national economic infrastructure.” These freaks speak this way about the savagery they intend to inflict upon Iran, and yet to this day whenever I oppose this crazy evil war I still get bootlickers in my replies babbling about how the war is about freeing the Iranian people. ❖ The use of trained rape dogs in Israeli prisons is so well–documented at this point that there is no valid reason to doubt it is happening. All the hasbarists can say is “It’s crazy to think Israel would do something so evil!” Which nobody who’s been paying attention believes. ❖ People who advocate a “demilitarized” Palestinian state are admitting they know Israel would continue attacking and abusing the Palestinians under a two-state solution and they want to ensure that the Palestinians are powerless to stop it. They don’t want Israel to be forced to get along with its neighbors like every normal country on earth. They want to ensure that Israel can continue terrorizing the Palestinians at every whim without the normal force deterrence systems possessed by any real state. ❖ If your strongest argument for censoring anti-Israel speech begins with the words “It makes Jewish people feel,” then your argument isn’t strong enough to be taken seriously. We’re talking about genocide, apartheid, ethnic cleansing and nonstop wars here. Feelings take a backseat to these issues — even the feelings of people who strongly believe their feelings matter more than human lives. Feeling uncomfortable feelings is fine and normal. We’re all supposed to feel uncomfortable feelings from time to time, especially when terrible things are happening. I myself have been feeling many uncomfortable feelings while scrolling my social media feed since October 2023, but I don’t feel entitled enough to believe laws should be passed and the internet should be censored in order to shelter me from experiencing those feelings. Suck it up, buttercup. These are conversations that need to be had. ❖ The food and fuel crisis that’s about to hit is the fault of the US and Israel. All US and Israeli allies should end the alliances and collaborate with nations around the world to establish a new order of international power. I’ll keep repeating this as life gets harder for us all. ❖

Children's reactions after watching the movie "The Chinese People's Volunteer Army". Looking at others: My 10-year-old daughter was not afraid when she saw the sacrifice of the Volunteer Army soldiers. Instead, she was angry. She clenched her fists tightly and her face was full of gritted teeth. Don't underestimate the patriotism of children nowadays. After watching it, she was filled with excitement. At this moment, she went to study. She immediately decided not to go anywhere to play and canceled all her outing plans because she wants to be admitted to Harbin Institute of Technology to build weapons and take revenge for the heroic grandpas. My daughter cried and used half a pack of tissues. Today she said that she wants to be a soldier in the future and defend her own motherland first. (Her previous dream was to sell ice cream). Diary: October 3rd, Thursday, sunny. Today, the weather is fine, the sky is clear and blue without a cloud in sight. I got up very early and was in an especially good mood because my mother was going to take me to watch a movie. The movie began. The pictures were extremely shocking, the plot was compact, and the details were so real that it seemed as if one could smell the gunpowder on the battlefield. The soldiers were heroic and fearless, making people's emotions surge and tears well up. After the movie ended, my mood couldn't calm down for a long time. I love my motherland! When the youth thrive, the country thrives. When the youth are strong, the country is strong. I will study hard and constantly strive for self-improvement, and turn my patriotism into actions to serve the country! I cried my eyes out. My 6-year-old son beside me kept asking me when the movie would end. I said he was heartless. He said he didn't want to watch such a sad movie. He almost shed a tear. I asked him if he didn't want to be a soldier. Don't we need such patriotism and family feelings? Without this empathy, how can he defend the country? My son said that now he doesn't want to be a soldier. He wants to be a scientist and build the most powerful weapons so that not so many people have to sacrifice. What should I say?
