#WATCH | Kolkata, West Bengal: On reports of withdrawal of cases against students participating in protests, West Bengal Minister Agnimitra Paul says, “We will humbly accept whatever verdict the court delivers. However, regarding those who have been arrested or charged, we must determine whether they are genuine students or hooligans. If they are students, they will certainly be released, and the cases against them withdrawn. But if you are a hooligan, not a student, and are acting under the patronage of a political party with an agenda to incite unrest in the country, raising slogans like ‘Freedom for Kashmir’ or demanding the restoration of Article 370, then these are not student issues. We will not spare those who orchestrate this with foreign funding; the 'Goonda Daman Act' (Anti-Hooliganism Act) will be invoked against them…”

In the last 24 hours there have been as many as four offers made to the students' representatives for the dialogue. We are still waiting for the response. Please come forward so that we find a way out of this situation in the larger interest of the students community, the youth and the nation at large Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the interest of students is foremost for the government and he attaches utmost importance to this. The government will go to any extent to safeguard the welfare of the students - Union Minister of State @ddrjitendrasingh #Education #Governance #Students
