Iga was right from the start. The WTA should have listened to their No. 1.

Only the big tournaments should be mandatory. That means 14 and the other, is it a 250 or 500 should be up to the player. 14 is still a lot and all these include the biggest field. 6 mandatory 500s is crazy to play especially for the best.

So this means that Iga should lost in 1st round in some tournament and less points will be taken from her.

They're controversial, illogical and destroy the spirit of fair competition. I get the idea of penalties but this system creates unfair situations, terrible for the sport and fans. Players are punished for being consistent, having better results and forced to play constantly.

Not a single 2024 WTA Finals' qualifier managed to play in 20 tournaments. This is not helping the smaller tournaments at all, players will enter 500s just to lose, retired or walkover R1/R2. They already basically killed 250s by not allowing top players to enter them.

Iga is one of the most consistent player these days. Yes,she took a break after USO and chose not to play. But as many players say - how are they supposed to find time to practice new thing? How are they supposed to see their family and friends?

Swiatek played 61 matches basically from Jan to August. There were 2 1000s and 4 500s left for her to fulfill the req. She never loses in early rounds so she should play what, 90 matches a year to make WTA happy? Thats crazy! @Wta considered that or they dont really care?

no player in the top 10 is going to be healthy enough to play 20 tournaments in a season😵‍💫 @WTA please change your rules cause you're killing these amazing athletes AND robbing them of hard earned points!

A hybrid system that takes into account matches played would be more fair. Some minimum number of matches could substitute a mandatory event, with further such substitutions as the number of matches accrues. Otherwise the top players will be out of the sport at a young age.
