#WATCH | Delhi: Ministry of Health and Family Welfare observes World Hepatitis Day. Union MoS Anupriya Patel releases IEC materials under the National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme. She says, “This day alerts us to the dangers of this serious liver disease and reminds us that, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, we must eradicate hepatitis from India by 2030. 8 years ago, the Government of India strengthened the fight against hepatitis by launching a national program. Today, every government health centre offers comprehensive facilities. Furthermore, the cost of medication has dropped significantly, falling below $1. While hepatitis exists in various forms, Hepatitis B and C are particularly known as silent killers…regarding Hepatitis B, I appeal to all healthcare workers and families to ensure we move towards 100% Hepatitis B screening for every pregnant mother in the country. Currently, we are screening only 65% ​​of pregnant mothers for Hepatitis B…unsafe injection practices are the primary cause of the spread of Hepatitis C. Hence, the Government of India advocates the ‘One Needle, One Time’ principle…facilities for both Hepatitis B screening and treatment are available at every government health centre. By taking just one tablet daily for a period of 12 weeks, you can be permanently cured of Hepatitis B…”
